@DoManMacgee You can tweak your profile each turn, so you will have a chance for that (although I just set up my profile the way I prefer, and left it at that).

RE: Any News?
In our internal build, we now have implemented a defensive profile which every player can tune as they wish. So now you can pick any profile you want, including submerging of submarines, etc.

RE: Any News?
We’re still working on the game, it’s pretty much active. Just wanted to give you folks a heads-up.

RE: Any News?
Not news, but check out the recent Matt Chat interview with Brent Knowles (at 3:20 he starts talking about Axis & Allies Online).
This episode features an interview with Brent Knowles where he gives insights on a range of game design issues, including a talk about Axis & Allies Online.

RE: Technical Question: AAO and Steam
You can’t play Steam games without launching Steam, usually. This game won’t be an exclusion.

RE: Any News?
Hello! There’s no update yet. The release date hasn’t been set. The AMA is indeed the last event regarding AAO. The game is still in development.

RE: Axis & Allies Online Screenshots and Steam Page
Thanks for the feedback!

RE: Grand Plans, 3rd Edition?
@Black_Elk I and David have tried something based on your suggestion on the first page of this thread. We skipped combat for all the powers during the first turn. And this (in my opinion) turned out great!
No combat during the first turn let the Allies protect most of their troops, it provided much more variety to the gameplay - each of the players could opt for several opening strategies with much less “known” moves in subsequent turns.
I’d vote all the veterans should try it.

RE: Axis & Allies Online AMA by Beamdog on March 27 at r/boardgames
Our Axis & Allies Online AMA is finished now (we started at 09am PT and ran it till 11am PT). Check out the questions and replies here:

RE: Q&A with Axis & Allies Online Developers, Beamdog
@DoManMacgee We’re fully honest. From the interview: “1942 2nd Edition provided us with a fantastic jumping off point in terms of creating a game that provided a lot of depth and complexity, but still approachable for new and experienced players alike. One of the main goals with Axis & Allies Online was to make a game that was approachable by any type of player, from the new and inexperienced, all the way to the veteran player who has logged hundreds of hours into the board games.”
And we’re listening.

This is very insightful, Black_Elk. I’ve passed your concerns to the development team.

RE: Q&A for Beamdog
Beamdog is doing monthly QA sessions based on the community questions posted in this thread: https://forums.beamdog.com/discussion/74182/ask-beamdog#latest . Major questions are selected and then being posted on the blog - http://blog.beamdog.com/ (the first such blog enty, based on January questions, will be posted very soon).
Also, take note a few questions might have been already answered. Eg. “The main reason Beamdog is making Axis & Allies Online is because our CEO, Trent Oster, has a passion for the board game, and he’s shared that with the team — we’re all hooked now!” https://venturebeat.com/2019/02/11/with-axis-allies-online-beamdog-goes-beyond-enhancing-old-dd-games/

RE: Asynchronous Play - Some Questions
Asynchronous play means that the game allows players to take their full turn distinctly/asynchronously without other players needing to be in the game.
So yes, eg., player A does a move now, then logs out. Player B logs in two hours later and does his move … and so on.
The status of the game is saved on a server.
The offline game is saved to the user’s local drive.
The online games are all saved on our backend server.

RE: My Body Is Ready
@DoManMacgee The game will come to the Early Access very soon. There’s no date yet, but we’re working towards that.
-
RE: Rules Questions so far: Defender's Casualty Selection
First of all, the game is still in development, and once the Early Access starts, players will be able to file feature requests at our service desk.
Right now:
- Yes, attackers can choose casualties in any order they prefer.
- Transports still must be chosen last.
- Yes, at this time defenders strictly choose casualties based on the lowest IPC cost units first (although still obeying rules such as hits from submarines cannot be applied to air units).

RE: Rules Questions so far: Defending Submarines
First of all, the game is still in development, and once the Early Access starts, players will be able to file feature requests at our service desk.
Right now: Sea zones with enemy subs are still considered friendly, but defenders are not able to submerge their submarines at this time. Submarines do not block unit movement. At this time, all defending subs that do not have an enemy destroyer in the battle automatically conduct a surprise strike.
About your last question: the change was made to accommodate asynchronous play. The developers might look at ways to address this based on the community feedback.
