      @Flashman:

      Italian Navy

      I really think ships in port rules are the only thing that will prevent navies being sunk on the first two turns.  Without this they are simply too vulnerable to aircraft.

      US Build UP

      Simpler to make US factories minor until at war.

      Free French

      If anything they are over represented, since all surviving French units are assumed to be Allied, with the considerable Vichy French forces entirely absent.  All FF fought effectively under UK command, as did the large Free Polish forces, which are not represented.  The Western Allied forces are fragmented enough already.

      Other things needed for historicity:

      No new factories, no use of captured factories

      Unlimited rail movement during NCM; i.e. all land movements between war zones used this method and should therefore all land units should have the same movement

      Collect money at start of turn rather than “money grab” attacks

      Defender retreats

      Thank you for your insight on this project.  I am trying to keep it simple… rather than change the rules all together.  Some of your suggestions are MAJOR changes to the game.

      @reloader-1:

      Calvin, you would know more about this than us, but to the uninformed observer this just reinforces perceptions of India as a huge, chaotic mass that can’t accomplish much.

      Any observations/points you would like to make? I am truly interested in learning more about India’s potential.

      True, India is a developing country. It needs and takes help from the West, including the UK and US, to grow. Of course, it has the 2nd largest population in the world, so they have a lot of people to support. It will be difficult, but it has a lot of potential that can be and is being tapped.

      League of Nations:

      Political costs for a DOW along the Russian/Japanese border result in world outrage against the aggressor nation.

      If Russia conducts a DOW against Japan, the U.S. will remain neutral 1 additional turn and will not interfere with Japanese aggression against UK and ANZAC in the Pacific since they are the “victim” nation. Fear of Communism fuels American pacifism and ties Roosevelt’s hands. The Japanese Ambassador exposes a (faked) “Caucasian” treaty between Russia, UK, and ANZAC dealing with the suppression and division of Japanese assets/territories.

      If Japan conducts a DOW against Russia, the U.S. will remain neutral 1 less turn and they become a “friendly” power with the pacific allies, permitting the landing of US units on allied territories and providing sea units for a common defense until a formal DOW occurs between the US and Japan. These land and sea units upon meeting with allied forces/fleets change flags (I.E. swap US vessels/units with UK,China,USSR or ANZAC pieces) to maintain “neutrality”.

      These arguments are mostly what I was thinking…  In this game the Axis must plan together more than ever.  One aggressive move by one during the first three turns (or against a Neutral throughout the game) really can have an effect on the others.

      @Rorschach:

      @Krieghund:

      The territory goes to China.  The IC remains in the territory under Chinese control, but China cannot use it.  The rule that says that the IC would be destroyed is in AAP40, not AA50.

      Dangit.  I guess we’re going to have to re-place that factory!  On the upside, that gives the Japanese something to shoot for (again).

      Thats good News! (For Me - Im Axis)

      Thank you for the clarification.

      @SAS:

      I wasn’t referring specifically to you, Dany, I just don’t understand why everyone thinks this is such a big mistake.  Someone earlier referred to Crete being part of Greece just like Hawaii is part of the US.  However, if Japan invades Hawaii, they don’t receive control of the Eastern US; and even if they invade the Eastern US and take the capital but don’t invade Hawaii, they don’t automatically get control of Hawaii.

      That was my quote - but again - I wasnt referring to issues regarding “control” or occupation, merely when and where related forces are activated.  For sake of clarification, I was looking at the issue from the perspective of an Axis attack on Crete - not from the perspective of an Allied player sending forces to Crete in order to bring Greece into the war.

      The analogy was simply intended to illustrate that when Japan attacks Hawaii on J1,2, or 3 - Japan and the US (i.e. ALL territories of the US) are at war.  In my mind it seems to follow that if the Axis attack a portion of Greece (be it Greece proper or Crete) then all territories part of the Greek state are at war - and so any troops so designated on the board are activated.  I certainly wasn’t getting “bent out of shape” - I was simply offering what I thought was a plausible explanation of what happens - understanding official clarifications will eventually come from those positioned to do so.

      But I also understand (based on the earlier poster’s Mongolia clarification offered by Krieg) the idea that Crete and Greece are treated as separate and distinct tt - and not part of the same greek  nation-state so to speak.

      There are flat areas at Gibraltar as well, and lets not forget the history of the German attack on Eban-Emael.  If the Germans had thought about approaches to Gibraltar earlier, they could have demanded access through Vichey N. Africa, make Spain give Er Rif its independence, followed by a German invasion of Er Rif…bring up their 8 big Krupp guns, pound Gibraltar with 562 pound shells every 30 seconds, contest the air night and day, then invade.  Another idea would have been to force Spain to accept non-beligerant status and move through daring the Brits to contest them in Spain.

      Thanks, everyone, for your comments.  We are reading every post and giving each serious consideration.

      @finnman:

      why are you centered on the pacific, do get me wrong I love your knew idea but will you ever do any Europe or is field command a pacific game.

      We do intend to do a battle in the Europe theatre.  In fact, that was our original intention.  The reason we choose these three battles is partly due to the renewed interest in the Pacific Theatre following from HBO’s The Pacific series.  It doesn’t have much to do with where we’re based and we don’t intend for the Field Command series to be restricted to Asia or the Pacific.

      @FieldMarshalGames:

      Voting closes Aug 1st

      Actually, voting closes on 15 Aug (Sun).  Votes for multiple battles are allowed on our main voting webpage: http://www.worldsforge.com/fieldcommand/fc2_vote.php

      Hello,
            I have reduced the WorldsForge miniatures to CLEARANCE PRICE.  There was some interest in these miniatures from Singapore 1942 but the demand has not meet WF expectations.  I am clearing out my existing stock at COST (These were shipped from Singapore) and will not be ordering any more in future.

      Get them while they are available!

      Good to know
      @reloader-1:

      World’s Forge was willing to do a special run for me of the Bren Carriers, color matched to the UK A&A 1940 colors. I just need to order 200-300 pieces.

      Any interest here? Figure $2 a piece.

      $2 a piece is still a lot, and 200-300 pieces? Thats a MINIMUM of $400
