      My grandfather had broken his arm, and even though it healed he was deemed unfit for duty, so he did the next best thing and riveted B-17’s that bombed the Nazis.

      @Imperious:

      Yes yes quite right, but if you want people in the ocean you just lower the cost of naval units so they will buy them, and add rules regarding modeling submarine warfare where the subs can attack IPC of nations.

      What i saw was one problem that was related to the “double income collection problem” and offered a solution that would seem less painful than the cure that proposed.

      That is what I’m sugesting.  I think all naval cost would have to be lowered and new sub rules implemented.  No air only attacks sub detection etc. then subs would be able to target transports with raw materiels in them.  You are right about the double income and I started playing that way after I got my copy of The War Game.  I think a big aspect of the war was moving materiels and this would be a fun option.

      another thing this does is eliminate the need for income tracking.  and I also would agree that the cash would have to be dispersed once per round.  I’m not sure if this is and advantage for any one player, I will have to think about it some more.

      Half-TrackH

      @Half-Track:

      Looks good, lets test it out.

      Germans should get some obsticles for free, 4 free pill boxes and 3 sandbaged MG42.

      I also think allied infantry should be allowed an attack to destoy obsticles.  On thier movement phase you can declare an infantry to destroy an obsticle in an ajacent hex (basically the infantry is placing the explosive).  On the attack phase the obsticle is destroyed on a roll of 4 or higher.

      Only think the only thing missing is the German artilary firing on the beach.  How do you recreate that?

      How about a similtanuous game on a seperate map, round for round.  With US para having to take out some german artilary in a hedgerow.  Until they destoy the artilary, the artilary fires on all beach units.  I’m not sure how to use the artilary.  I’m thinking on the d-day map, at the beginning of the movement phase, roll three dice.  On three sucesses the unit gets a face up disrupted counter.  Rolling three sixes and the unit is immediatly destroyed.  Again this is just an artilary attack for any units on the beach.

      DZ, I’ve never seen your comments about this but I have some more ideas.  I still like the idea about the sandbagged MG42 and pillboxes.  I think both side should have

      Artilery-Bombardment (I actually stole this from another scenario)
      Germans would be able to target the beach hexes, only the beach.
      After the iniative phase the German player would roll one die.  The result is the number of units disrupted by the artilery bombardment.  (Germans players choice for disrupted units)

      Naval-Bombardment
      The allied warships will be able to target a certain number of hexes inland.
      After the German Artilery phase, the allied player will roll two die.  The result is the number of units disrupted by the naval bombardment.  Units in pillboxes are not affected.  It costs three to disrupt a sanbaged unit.  (Allied players chioce for disrupted units)

      @dezrtfish:

      I think the original release went for $100 or more.  That stuff is the Cristal of beer, fancy bottle and really expencive.

      If you get a chance to buy it for the $100 bucks. I was under the impression they sell out at the brewery the day of release. They are very prized collectibles on Ebay.

      Amon-SulA

      @mateooo:

      “good luck” in real life wars is usually secondary to good leadership, higher tech or better strategies, not " good luck". Russia sure had a big army in WWI, but they sure didnt fare too well. And American infantry sure can kill a whole lot of enemy infantry with minimal casualties, but thats because of fancy weapons and vehicles. Course that dont necessarily mean we win…

      agree with you mostly

      it was no luck in Germany smashing France

      it was Panzerdivisons. It was the German organisation. Simply put, the Germans smashed them like pumpkins
