Facilities should become damaged when captured. Currently, the only loss resulting from capture is downgrading major ICs to minor IC (aside from ICs in China being destroyed). This primarily benefits Germany, which can gain 3 Russian minor ICs, plus 3 bases, at no cost, aside from SBR damage by Axis. I propose that captured minor ICs and bases should receive maximum damage (6 points) each time they are captured, due to battle damage or deliberate demolition by retreating enemy.

Austria mourns the lose of Zeppa. After a distinguished career terrorizing the Entente, burning Paris, London and his favorite target Rome, he pushed his luck one time too far and was shot down by AA fire over Rome. His crew wanted him to wait out the season, so he could join in the land attack against Italy. But that wasn’t his style, preferring to fly solo or with his partner Zepbe. RIP Zeppa.

RE: NML 1914 - Team Game #5
@witt Of course, you were UK last game.
I hope you try a novel strategy instead of the same old Paris fetish.
The final jeopardy category a day or two ago was “famous ships”. The question was what ship wreck was located in 1989, 48 years after it sank and 96 years after the death of the person that it was named for. 2 contestants chose the Andrea Doria, but the current champion and I knew it was the Bismarck. -
RE: NML 1914 Team Game 7
Wow, Sweden is a tough neighborhood. Both neutral defenders hit. Then the Brits weakened me for the Ruskies to take their shot. Less than half of my 16-man army survived the first turn. Good thing I take HGs along with me. Finland bulked up quickly. May have to stay in Sweden for a massage from a blonde beauty and eat some Swedish meatballs.

RE: NML 1914 Team Game 8
@colt45554 8 more hits and I received 6. You were down to 2 damaged BB’s, so I took the second DD instead. I just sank your fleet.

RE: NML 1914 Team Game 8
Yesterday was the 127th running of the Boston Marathon… Its the oldest, most famous and prestigious modern marathon. Its been ten years since the Boston Marathon bombing on April 15, 2013. The race is always run on Patriots Day, which is always on a Monday.
I commemorated it by running 3 1/3 miles around the neighborhood in my 2013 running outfit that my wife bought at the running store at the finish line, just hours before the bombing.
Being a New York born Yankee, I didn’t appreciate Boston until I ran the 2009 and 2013 marathons and experienced the hospitality of the city and the comradery of the friendly worldwide competition. That’s what made the bombing so senseless and sad.In 2013, I crossed the finish line 23 minutes before the bomb blasts. My time was 3 hours, 46 minutes. Pretty decent for being 65 years old at the time. I felt bad for those who were prevented from finishing, after running 25 miles, because the race was halted.

RE: NML 1914 game 13
@VictoryFirst No, the best powers for a newbie are Italy/Arabia/USA.
When players want an easy or quick turn, they would choose Italy/Arabia, whose theaters of operation are local. When we lost a player, we combined USA with them. USA is also a good starter position, as the early turns are just spent expanding on manifest destiny against neutrals, and the German opening gambit to Mexico (we’ll explain later). Afterwards, as USA income and units grow, it’s homeland is safe, and USA can choose where to shore up the Entente. Elrood might fill you in on playing USA in this past game.Turk/Com requires a strong player now that the industry tech opening bid has been removed. Turks face UK from India and must try to take Cairo, while facing naval war with UK.

@dawgoneit Cousin Nicky, don’t listen to cousin George and Poincare’. They each have ulterior motives. George wants to take Norway and Oslo for himself. Good old cousin Willie has your best interest at heart.

RE: 1914 Game 17: Simon as Germany, PP as Austria and nasty Witt as Turkey.
@Private-Panic You only had just under 50% odds on Milan to start. So, after 2 poor rounds of attack, it didn’t make sense to continue, as Italy had more remaining troops and much more defense points.
Austria’s actual historical military leader, Conrad was a terrible general and Austria did poorly against Italy and Serbia. The troops spoke many different Balkan languages and weren’t patriotic towards the Empire, which didn’t help. -
RE: 1914 Game 17: Simon as Germany, PP as Austria and nasty Witt as Turkey.
@Private-Panic is up as Austria
I messed up France. It’s so rare for G to have warships in Eng Chan while controlled by Entente, that I just repeated attack on Picardy like last turn. Amphib from Brittany and bombard. But, I forgot that required sea battle first with the 3 G cruisers. I rolled well, but still lost a cruiser and retreated. The amphib troops retreated without fighting, so I lost the Picardy battle.

RE: 1914 Game 17: Simon as Germany, PP as Austria and nasty Witt as Turkey.
@simon-tressel @Elrood
G is being played by a newbie and UK is playing like a newbie at times. It was worth the 43% odds for G to try for London. Would have been decisive, a game changer, if G had taken London on round 3. It was scary exciting to watch the play-by-play history of the battle dice. -
RE: 1914 Game 17: Simon as Germany, PP as Austria and nasty Witt as Turkey.
@Witt You were lucky getting a tech with just 1 die, and getting gas. The extra hit you’ll get from rolling 5’s instead of 4’s gives you much better odds (because of the relatively small size of both armies). Taking Mecca on T3 will give you a big jump on taking Cairo.
