Will AAP 40 be available in stores?
-
@Brain:
are you kidding, i saw a $25 game of UNO there! For a game called ‘1’ that’s highway robbery!! :-D
What do you think the price of a game with the number 40 will be? :-D
oh no, it’s worse than that, it has 1940 on the actual box…
-

And don’t forget the new folding paper map board!

Recently I have seen AA40 at stores like target, toys ur us, and walmart. Does this mean WOTC is starting to market AA games in common stores? Does this mean we can find AAP40 and AAE40 in these stores as well?
-
my guess is no. my bet is it will only be found at specialty shops much like AA50. stores such as Walmart, Target, etc. dont normally carry boardgames that cost more than $50. AA42 is pretty cheap compared to the more expensive AA50, AAP40, and AAE40
-
That true. It would be nice for a change though. I have already pre-ordered my version, but I know alot of AA fans who dont even know that a AA40 will be coming out this December.
-
Its bad marketing thats for sure. How can you make sure non hardcore customers buy the product if they dont even know about it? of course WE know we are hardcore, but what about everyone else?
-
It’s not even bad marketing. It’s NO marketing. At this point I’d take bad marketing. At least there would be an effort.
-
I guess they are relying on word of mouth advertising. So it is our job and if we fail then they will stop releasing more product.
-
I guess so. By the time my friends and I found out about AA50 it was already $200 on ebay. Forget that!!
-
I told people in my history club at school about the new pacific game. Does word of mouth advertising work though?
-
It can I mean the only effective method I see is actually going on the internet and finding websites like this one for yourself.
-
It better be effective as it is the only advertisement the game will get.
-
I’m surprised this game does not get more time being advertised, it is a great strategy game that is fun and not too intense in the area of rules and stuff like that. Perfect for people that want a little more than what Risk has to offer.

you’re preaching to the choir

Ya we’ve already gone over that. And by the looks of things it doesnt look like anything is going to change. Just spread the word to those who you know are fans that way we do not repeat a AA50 here.
-
Its gonna be hard not to repeat an AA50. From what little I’ve read in the forums in just this site alone. A lot of members are saying that you are gonning to or already pre-ordered a few copies of the game. And judging by what the chimps will do. They will only produce a limited number of these “deluxe” editions. It just annoys me (this pertaining to the members of this site that have publicly announced that are purchasing multiple copies) that they will do that. And that is your prerogative. Last I checked it is a free enterprise out there with Ebay at your disposal. But I don’t think its morally right in doing this action. Those are just my feelings on this situation. As for me I’ve told my wife that this the one thing I’m implicitly asking for this x-mas. That will be only copy of AAP40 that I will own. I feel that every one that is an AA player should be given the “chance” to own one of the these magnificent games. We all know that that there will be AA players that will miss out on this. Unless the chimps are feeling that holiday spirit and make more than last go around (which I’m sure they won’t). So in conclusion. Everyone that bought (or planning on) multiple copies will read later on that so an so missed out on AAP40. You should feel that this is not right that you took their opportunity away from them. Sorry for the long rant. But I had to pipe up on this issue. I felt it deemed necessary to speak for people that has this view on this topic. A wise person once said “do on to others as you would want them to do upon you”. I know its old fashioned, but its true. I know I’m not perfect. But I try to do what is right. So please ask yourself, do you feel right in doing this. Not just monetarily speaking.

Miragehunter,
People who pre-order extra copies are helping with the initial demand.
Some players will not know about the new AA40 Pacific until it is out for 6 mos. and they may not find it in stores.
People who order extra copies help with the delayed interest by occasional players who only play a couple of times per year. This is the first time that I am pre-ordering more than one copy.
Major +Karma to the players on this site who sold extra copies of AA50 to fellow players
