Recently, while playing a game of axis and Allie’s Global ‘40, I was playing the axis. America was doing a Japan-first approach, and having done a J3 to help Italy and Germany, Japan was cornered and the fall of Tokyo was inevitable. Italy, however, had conquered Cairo with the help of the Germans, and Germany was now pushing into Russia to get those final three victory cities, but America was turning its attention toward the Atlantic, and was threatening Germany (I had already enacted Dark Skies at this point.) With Japan, I had a built up a massive navy to defend the homeland, to the tune of four carriers+two battleships. With the Americans in Okinawa, I abandoned Japan to its fate and started the Japanese piracy mission. I left Japan for the Carolines, and then conquered the underprotected New Zealand, leaving a trail of blockers in my wake. (I have three filled transports. America had gone for a Spanish beachhead, and so, Japan mobilized the South American neutrals, despite having no capital. Then, my pirates turned north, wrecking the American transport shuck for just long enough for the Germans to take Moscow, for a glorious victory of the Japanese Pirates!
