quick rules q: when a dd encounters a ss, does it have to fight or can it ignore?
-
a destroyer can ignore a sub (can move right past it in combat without engaging or can move on top of it in noncombat) but a sub cannot ignore a destroyer (ie it cannot move past a destroyer. sub movement is halted when a destroyer is encountered, whether in combat move or noncombat move). when a sub encounters a destroyer, it is also not forced to attack, unless of course it encounters a destroyer during combat movement.
-
here’s the only question in my mind - if a destroyer has been placed in a zone that has an enemy sub and then on that sub’s turn, i believe it can leave the zone in combat movement, ie. it is not frozen by the destroyer unless it moves into the destroyer’s zone.
