I’d have to agree completely, but you left out Swing, Jazz, Jive and Big Band.

Duke Ellington, Cab Calloway, Glenn Miller, etc. that music still works.

France had Edith Piaf, but otherwise I don’t think many would choose Wagner over The Duke.

As soon as you do that all events which follow change, so you can no longer use the same history for the hypothesis, since all of the events that followed were dependent on Hitler. No Hitler = no 1939 invasion of Poland. Other events maybe, but not the same. For all we know if Hitler hadn’t been born, Germany may have been invaded by Russia and the cold war may have been between a German victor and the US.

Hypothesis and theorizing aside: Germany was defeated in North Africa and Stalingrad at the end of 1942 / the start of 1943. At that point any chance of an Axis victory was lost (the Japanese were also experiencing reversals of fortune in the Pacific). The causes for the loss may have started earlier, but that’s when the problems created earlier became physical fact.

Speaking of medium bombers, I feel for the Japanese bomber crews who operated the Betty, which was a flying gas can. Although it must be nice to have a 20 mm cannon for a tail gunner.

I’m sure they might have a few good ideas. Too bad they choose some rather sick symbols to use. Ya know, how can anybody take them seriously. It’s like when people say the propaganda in North Korea is comparable to the propaganda the US used in the Cold War. I mean how can anybody take somebody like that seriously?

I understand some lawyer in Belgium wants to take Tommy Franks to court and try him as a War Criminal on behalf of some Iraqi civilians who said he should have done more to protect the museums. Now, I don’t disagree that the US could have done more, and perhaps there should be some sort of an investigation. But, to use the War Crimes mechanism and the World Court for this political agenda will cause the US to shy away even more from a world court system that could be used to prosecute real war crimes and crimes against humanity. Why somebody would choose to sue Tommy Franks over say Pol Pot when he was alive or say Yassir Arafat is beyond me. But then again there are lots of French folks in Belgium so that might be reason enough. :wink:

definately basketball. Fast, lots of lead changes, spectacular moves (mainly dunks and assists), not so long time outs and pauses -> just thrilling.

the only thing that sucks about it is the late game free throw orgy when the game is close. Foul, FT, foul, FT just within a few seconds.
