New Axis & Allies computer game

Don’t know if you would know the answer to my question but maybe if you don’t you can direct me some one who might. I also just received a copy of the original game but not for $3. It came with a cardboard sheet of custom roundels that look pretty old. I have never seen these before they include: 4 yellow with the image of a zero, 6 yellow pill box, 12 jap control markers with numbers in the center, 12 USA control markers with numbers in the middle of them, 10 marines with eagle globe and anchor logo, 6 commando with skull and cross bones logo, 6 German SS with patch logo, 4 fighters unavailable this turn for duty with red circled a/c logo, 6 paratroopers with patch logo, 6 air transport with a/c art work, 6 troop carriers with truck art work, finally 2 with artillery art work. Any ideas as to who made them?

That sounds like the gamers paradise expansion. I have all three expansion sets they put out.

Started playing w/ my brothers when I was 13 (1976) We actually took a 4’x8’ piece of plywood and painted a blown-up version of the board on it. We spent a few weeks in Dads workshop making little wooden playing pieces and painting them. It was quite fun. We set it up on the ping-pong table and spent weeks battling. We came up w/ a few variations on the rules, map and unit movements. The one I remember quite well is stealth subs! We would start of w/ our subs in the proper starting sz’s, but we would “submerge” the subs when moving them so our opponets did not know where they were until they “surfaced”. We’d plot the moves on paper so we could prove where they moved to and from. It was quite fun to have an opponet move his fleet into a SZ that was occupied by 4 or so submerged subs. The subs would “surface”, in some cases stopping the opponents full movement, take a few hits and watch the subs submerge. Great fun and a nice twist to the game.

That sounds like a great twist, I’ll have to try it sometime.

I was 14ish when I first played a game. All of us were newbies.

My dad was UK and USA and built a ton of bbs to bombard me to pieces. USSR built a ton of infantry and stacked moscow heavily and never moved out of it. I think he had over 60 infantry when the game ended, at least double whatever was left on the board, combined! I was able to conquer all of Africa with one lone Jap infantry which eventually was transported over to europe to help save berlin. Japan also invested in an airforce to bomb the massive allied fleet. Germany quickly spread out due to moscow simply falling back. But I was never able to mount a serious offensive vs moscow. eventually it was all I could do to hold onto europe because of the massive bb fleets both USA and UK sported. And still USSR held to their defenses and never switched to offensive mode. Ahh, that innocence of noobs.

Yeah I have read that thread. I use to read TripleA forum. I actually made one small contribution to tripleA. In the last or the second last release there is my alias. So cool.

No it wasn’t AI. It was just allowing one sea zone to be connected to more than one canal. This is essential for mappers who wanted black sea canal.

But until we improve the engine…support for AI, house rules or even just “standard” games like LHTR, AAP, AAE, etc will not be straight forward.

I guess we can’t even do my “Buy one destroyer for every enemy ship” if the engine doesn’t even let you see the world.

Hello all,
at first sorry for my english, because I am from Czech republic. I have problem with my Axis and Allies game. I have played about 65 rounds now and in this time game typing error message something as “LOG file is full” and is impossible to continue with playing game. If I choose Load Game and click on saved game, the game starts as New game (on start). Folder with save games (Autosave and my 1 save) has about 50 MB. Thanky you for help !! thank you very much.

i used to have the computer version of a+a, but i lost it in a move somewhere, and have very little $$ for buying a new copy :(

Pulling out of Eastern Europe is a deathtrap! But seriously, you’re screwed if you did and screwed if you don’t since you’re know forced to defend two separate territories along with the unbearable 3 IPC loss. But anyways, Western Europe is probably the most feasible and the most advantageous of all the territories to take with USA and UK. But if you can position your transports correctly, you can strikes all German territories at once depending what is the most heavily under-defended.

I don’t care about any changes as long as they benefit Great Britain. That’s my favorite country :smile:
