try “the war game” many rules in this axa inspired global warfare game adapt to these concerns, for example, one ship cannot block a fleet, a fleet attack can propose up to 3 battles in path each of which are resolved in turn if sucessful. there are many more such as nation specific pricing and units, a more varied economic structure, and so forth. not by any means a shorter or simpler version of axa global however
Why are there Canadian roundels? A new rule perhaps?
-
As far as people getting confused with the Canadian roundel and not treating it as British for income totals, just put a British roundel over top
You have a point, specially if all players in the group are reasonable (wich is not a sure thing, but that’s another history). Then I guess we need make Indian markers to do the same for Pacific side (I guess there will not be Indian markers included in AAE40)
Not perfect but I guess that’s the better we’ll get OOB :|
-
TL;DR……i think the Canadian soapbox has been stood on for so long its bound to break…We have rehashed this over and over…its getting into a long tirade about “who is better” seriously guys…lets just drop the Canada discussion its stale and boring.
-
Besides BD makes me laugh. What does that say about me?
At least somebody gets my sense of humor. As for what it says about you–— I don’t think you want to know. :-D
By the way. I love Canada. I am just not sure that it would make the game better.
-
@Brain:
I am just not sure that it would make the game better.
I think that’s the major point. As I said long ago in one of the Canadian threads, the major reason ANZAC was added was simply for gameplay reasons; whether Canada or India or South Africa or Finland or whoever made greater contributions is not the point.
We as the players have been asking for a more balanced game in the Pacific and Larry has been (slowly) working toward that by various changes in the newer versions, and it’s certainly not perfect yet, but it’s getting better. India split and including ANZAC forces the UK into a “more” historical game in the Pacific (even if Japan is still much stronger than they were historically). Adding France was necessary with the earlier start date, but besides that, all the changes to the UK were Pacific focused to make an ignore Japan strategy obsolete. Adding Canada or Finland doesn’t do that, and besides trying to push more action into the Pacific, Larry doesn’t want to make the game more complex than it has to be. shrug
-
Yeah, I wouldn’t mind having another army with some new control markers. Canada would be cool and I guess if I was from Canada I might want it a little more, but I think it would just slow the game down with no added benefit.
-

Ignoring Japan is obsolete since AA50. And in AAG40, the Big Orange Blob will be greater than never
-
Japan could not even be ignored in the early versions or you would have Japanese tanks in Moscow.
-
i took frikin britian(london) with japan :-D
That must have been an intereting game. The game was probably already decided long before that happened.
-
i took frikin britian(london) with japan :-D
How did you manage that. You go through th panama or Suez canal
-
Man I can’t wait! My guess is the same as some others that Canada will not have any other importance than it usually does. Maybe Larry just can’t stand Canada or something, lol.
-
both, and i konw it sounds un likley, but i managed to summon a sub and battleship fleet with some cariers and 2 destroyers, who took over both canals and raced to britan surprizingly the suzes canal fleet(as i called them)beet the panama fleet who were taking hevey casulties from usa.
I am sorry but your opponent was probably not a very good player.
-
I cant argue against that, but still he almost won the previous turn.
I don’t know what to say…… but that must have been one weird game.
-
you dont even know the half of it !
italian tanks in usa!
brits at the door of japan!
rusians kicking at japans heels!
it was funny to watch but was painfull to play
each turn it would be a mater of who rolls whatIt is painful to even imagine. Sounds like a game between two novices. :-D
-
Yeah I remember similar games when I first started playing, they were wild and crazy because we didn’t know all of the rules quite yet.
-
Sounds more like what would happen in a game of Risk.
