I based off what they pretty much had at peak of war. I didn’t do the 1 piece equals so many. I just made it like Uk 6 BB and spread them out. US I had 7 BB but reduced it to 5. 4 damaged in Hawaii at start of game. If it had like real 4 light cruisers and 2 h cruisers I just made that 2 normal cruisers and 2 more normal cruisers. To eliminate the 3 diff pieces. Everything else straight up with tweaks to setup as we played the game.
Yes the eastern front setup is more like spring of 41 than dec. 41 like pac is. based on the game balance and timing to work
Out. As u see the battle of the Atlantic is at its peak too. More like dec 41 there. Only issue in most games if not all is the d day invasions. Most happen before June of 44 in all games but to get correct US wouldn’t attack Europe until turn 7 or 8 with torch happening sooner
That would be a major setup change and year of turns.
I have my own map for game too.
Global War -1936-1939-1942
-
HBG has been working on a new map for their Global War Game. It will have the political boundaries of 1936 but able to change for a 1939 setup and using roundels for a 1942 one. The neutral nations will play a bigger part and there will be political influence rules as well as production charts that have units arrive at certain times. You could start a game in 1939 and have a Battleship already half way through production, etc. The map will be even nicer than the much praised map we currently have. Unit development, terrain features, new sea zone layout and a Advanced setup as well as a basic setup with many optional rules to add to the game. We are shotting to have it playtested and ready for sale in the Fall (Black Friday) 2013 is the goal. We will post pictures and comments as we need to answer your questions.

A preview of the new Map.

More playtesting and development marks

1936 start, that will be a long game! Or very short. Will all axis and all allies move/combat together be considered to speed up the game?
-
Will tts be too overcrowded and/or will we have to use bunches of marshaling cards? That is always my biggest concern when it comes to any A&A game.
Should blow up Europe/Japan/UK to massively unrealistic portions and shrink down other portions of the map that don’t see as much unit traffic such as: Africa/East USSR/South America/etc…
Will it be released as a complete game (with all the pieces/rulebooks)? Or just a map?
-
These changes look to be for the better and I am glad to see them.
-
The most important thing has got to be scale though, we don’t need massive north and south Americas.
Also, it would be neat to have vertical connections on the map so bombers can fly over canada and into russia (for 1945 cold war games)
Multiple territory japan, multiple sea zones around it too.

been waiting for this one for a while

Purple might not be the best choice for impassable terrain

I use standard AA pieces and colors for this game but I am happy to see them expand into this game.
On that note I do use the Ottoman pieces and would like to see a few new pieces in that color.

This looks and sounds amazing. :-o

Very exciting! Can’t wait to see what you come up with.

Looking great!

This looks very absolutely awesome! Are there any plans to release an initial PDF file of the map and word document of the rules on the HBG site, as was done with the 1939 map before the revised map version was released?
-
There will be NO release of the PDF of our maps.

Ahh roger that coachofmany, can’t wait for the release then! I am loving the Risk piece cavalry units, a really great idea.

I’m very excited about the updated rules, but I’m not fond of the new map. In the closeup of the South America pic the text around the coasts and the graphics inside the territories are very busy and distracting. My group prefers a cleaner look. The extra graphics are interesting to look at, once, then they get our way during play. Just constructive criticism. :)

I’m really looking forward to this map. The increased detail will add a whole new level of strategic depth in my opinion. I’m picturing columns of panzer edging ever closer to the Volga River. It certainly expands the possibilities for house rules. Combined with the accurate geography and political boundaries of 1936, this will be very impressive!

Is this project still in the works? I’m very excited about it.

.It is. Working on 3 setups and many new features. Look for it in the fall of 2014
