  • Well, when you’re dealing with dice, 1/3 of games will be a loss because of dice, 1/3 will be a win, and 1/3 will be based on skill. If I ouplay my opponent and lose on dice, there’s nothing for it. If I am outperformed and win, what can I do? I still accept the win, but recognize I got away with one.

    The hope is that the dice equal out at some point, and skillfulness becomes the deciding factor. Otherwise we’re just playing Risk on steroids, or chucking dice on the pavement. Which is not why I’m here.

    Forgot to move the mech and armor from germany to east poland, moved it during placement with edit.

    If you want to intercept with the fighter, you can roll dice out on the forum. I brought an escort for me to sacrifice if you did and if it hit.

    I take chances and do desperate stuff sometimes. I am a mixture of the two styles. I felt like that naval would die to overwhelming forces, that was a good battle to cash out on.

    I am basically trying to go for the VC win. This is one of my rush rush games. I tend to charge at players who play a tighter more income oriented game, the vc rush is hard to stop while trying to get a long term advantage.

  • It’s a good strategy, and I have to survive the flurry…  :-o

    My M.O. is to fight until the last soldier has fallen defending the last VC. I’ve found many, many times that games I thought I had in the bag were anything but, and games I thought were lost have turned around. It’s rarely because of dice.

    I’m good with not intercepting… I just wish I could roll a 1 now and then. I’m always a big fan of odds… for every six pips rolled, one of them should be a hit. To play in any other way is utterly foreign to me. Moment to moment, it doesn’t hold up, of course… but over many games and many turns it sure does.

    You’re playing well, and aggressively, and I’m bleeding from many wounds. But it isn’t mortal, not even close. But man, it still hurts.  :cry:

    Mostly because I see Russia is not making the bonuses from Africa. I thought to myself… What is italy fighting for? Hold the fort down!


  • I don’t exploit the Africa bonuses on principle… too mini-maxi for me. Sometimes it works against a person to be a purist.

    Maybe I’m just not good at it yet  8-)  and it has nothing to do with principle.
