It all depends on what UK does. If UK ignores them the ottomans can really grow quickly and threaten.

Naval war would be much livelier if we had German cruisers starting in East Africa and the Mediterranean. Austria might consider a sub or two to raid the Italian fleet, while Italy could risk wrecking its navy in the Adriatic to close down Austrian troops bridging into Tuscany.
Bulgaria did raise a large army, I think 3 is quite reasonable. This will certainly help protect the Turksih section of the Ostwall (Romania). Much less reasonable is Albania on 2, this was barely a state at all and had no industry or army to speak of.
I plan to houserule the Königsberg in, but I think the Goeben and Breslau are already represented by those two Turkish cruisers. And if Bulgaria gets that amount of troops, then Belgium should be a 3 as well.
-
Or make Romania 3 as well, they mobilized a lot of men even if half of them were dead or in Bulgarian prison camps withing 3 months :-P
-
I thought Romania was three?
Bulgaria mobilized more troops than Belgium, about 500,000 to 340,000.
-

Everything is wrong about Albania. It shouldn’t even be aligned to anyone. Neutral with 1 IPC would be better.
-
If anything, it should be a Turkish Ally, certainly if the population is considered.
Probably make it neutral on my map, with 1 IPC to be generous.

I’m with Flashman, since Bulgaria is the fourth and final Central Power, I’m perfectly happy with a 3 and giving it to the Ottomans helps make up for their general weakness.
Since Albania on the map includes Montenegro, which, if I recall, had a plucky little army, 2 seems alright by me as well. Likewise, giving it to Italy helps make up a bit for their general weakness, although I wonder which will be more common: Albania brought into the game by Italy or by an Austrian attack.

If German troops push into moscow an Russia surrenders these troops may still be a usefull help for the ottomans holding off the british army.
There are 6-7 tts between moscow and france but only 2 between moscow and turkey… -
Turkey may well abandon the south and just hold on to Constantinople-Bulgaria-Romania and trade Smyrna-Ankara while the Germans and Austrians drive for the two target capitals. Why bother fighting over Trans-Jordan and the Syrian desert?
-
But how long would these troops need to get there I guess 6/7 Rounds to much time to avoid powerfull US-Forces reinforce France.
Maybe its just historical that you can´t move them too quickly to western front because in march 1918 when the big last
Spring offensive started there had been still 1 Mio CP-Soldiers in Russia. -

I can see how that would be viable to the Turks holding their higher income producing territories, and defend their capital (except that Romania will most likely be in A/H pocket). With that said, there isn’t much resistance to the English in Africa (the German units aren’t going to hold out too long), and only the Brits or the Turks can reinforce this region (Africa/Mid East). If the Turks don’t put up some resistance in TJ etc… (to occupy the Brits attention) the UK will be able to gain full control of Africa rather easily. Eventually the English will be able to use the income it gains and over power the Turks with reinforcements from Egypt & Bombay by land & sea. Then they have easy access into southern Russia pulling A/H units away from that front to possibly head off the Revolution.
-
If Turkey turtles that means the UK doesn’t have to buy units at India.

I 99% agree, if the Turks don’t put forth some effort to the south the English will certainly gain control of Africa w/o much of a fight and won’t need many reinforcement from Bombay early in the game. This will allow them to pour more income into the trenches of France to stabilize that front.
Once they gain control of Africa though, they will be looking for a way to draw attention away from the Russians and will take the Turks on head to head. At that point if the Germans are halted in trenches of France, the Brits could switch gears mobilizing some Indian units to crack the Turks defenses in Constantinople (which may have some Austrian back-up). It is obviously in the allies best interest to keep the Russians in the game as long as they can.
PS
I don’t see the French or Italians doing much in the Med, with the exception of taking out the A/H navy so they can’t merge w/Turks. -
At lot of this depends on how many units the UK can place in India. If its unlimited, the entire strategy of Turkey is radically altered.
-
Considering it may represent ANZAC units, India may have unlimited placement.
But it is only Infantry and fighters right?
Without artillery, this force is going to be defensive rather than offensive. -

From Larry’s quote:
As the British player, you will also have ships in the Mediterranean Sea and Indian Ocean. These ships will be instrumental in the movement of your forces in these areas of the world. As the British Empire player, you have a unique situation and capability. Britain may place newly purchased land and fighter units in India during the Mobilize New Units phase of the turn (Phase 4). These forces represent troops from India and the Pacific British Crown colonies and they are staging in Bombay. -
Oh, I was wrong. Just no boats.
Honestly it might be worth houseruling it to Infantry Only. -
I have played global war 1939 (HBG) and they have a rule that the first 3 units UK mobilizes in India must be inf each turn. After that you can build most other stuff, so it costs you 13 IPC to build an art (9 IPCs for 3 inf, 4 IPC for art), so you have to decide how much you want to dump into India. Something like first two mobilized must be inf might be cool as a house rule.
-
Or one infantry for each non infantry unit.
So you can build 2 inf and 2 arty, if you wanted.
