Finally, I have my map printed! Oh, yea!!!

  • did you say you made changes to the map? or only changed the scale?

If you want to make changes to the map, make Hokkaido its own territory (the game can tolerate Japan getting 1 or 2 more IPC/turn)- i would just like to have it as a territory.

This map doesn’t change that much, that would def effect balance.

  • Nice improved map.  What is the new size?

  • I want to print my own copy too, please share the file ;____;
That game doesn’t have a copyright here in Italy, I bought it from the USA myself.

Very, Very impressive. I just spent a lot of time and money building a customized table for my 1940 global game, and I’m in the middle of editing a complete players handbook, so I know what its like to finish such a large labour of love. Well done.

  • GSH34, Very Nice Map. I had planned on making my own Global using wood. I have made several AA boards in the past ( see past post of mine to see). Now I am think I should paint a map on a metal sheet. Then I can cat proof the board with magnets. Again, great job!! -AAGator

  • ya know, your map is so nice, I wonder if it can be posted up in the sticky area instead of the map they have now.  I use that map often when discussing moves when my board is put away, and I gotta admit after looking your board over, you did an amazing job.

I’m so jealous, I will PM the mods to start the ball rolling.

  • I’m pretty sure it is not permitted to publicly distribute it. However sending it to some of your friends for review, at no financial gain is surely legal, even though explicitly permitted.

Furthermore I am highly doubtful that Wizard doesn’t have a team of FBI hackers checking which files you send to your friends.

Plus, one having this map still compels them to buy all the pieces from Wizard’s so it isn’t unlawful competition.

As I understand the file is surely big, I would like to point out (although you most likely know of their existence) that there are sites that specialise in the sending of big files.

Just saying, in case you would have some remorse 8-)
I am just saying that there exist quite a few grey areas.

Yes…… I think WOTC didn’t understand or didn’t want to understand the harmless intentions you had and were to quick to say no. Unfortunately for us… you are too honorable, but if you ever decide to give wizards the finger, let me know, I would love a copy of your map.

  • wow, this is exactly what my wife and myself were talking about doing… Magnets on the wall…  no room in our house for a dedicated table :(

I have printed a map recently with the help of Ambiliz, we added a income tracker along the bottom edge……

  • Could I get the details of where and on what you got this printed?

I got a file from ambiliz, and then added air and naval bases using photo shop. I took the file on my flash drive to 80 print hear in Scarborough ontario, Canada and got them to print it as a poster 72"x33", and laminate it with mat lam to cut down on glare.

The whole thing cost me $100 plus tax, however, that was a friend deal as the normal price would be more like $140-$160. There are more details and pictures in the Axis and Allies Variants forum under the thread titled “Grasshopper’s New Table”.

Thank you sir!  If you had a reddit account, I’d gladly give you karma.

Do you think the extra space makes a difference?

    To me it does.

  • I’m sure if you put the facilities on the actual map, and add 2 inches, that you get a little more room.  I always hated how little room you have in Europe setting up.

If my game room could fit a 80"x43" map board, I would defiantly have printed one.

wow, this is exactly what my wife and myself were talking about doing……

Your wife??  Who the heck plays this game with their wife? :-D  (sorry Jen, you are clearly the anomaly around here).  My wife pokes fun at me for playing this.

You are to be commended on such a job Well Done!

    To me it does.

And I couldn’t agree more that a LARGER MAP definately makes a BIG difference,…pun intended.  I had mine enlarged 150 % to 48" x 108" by a proffessional digital sign company.

As he said, it cost me a good bit but I feel it was definately worth it to get rid of all the frustrations of having so many units “piled-up” on a gameboard that is realistically too small to handle everything easily.  And it looks SO COOL and is large enough to plan your moves on from a distance.

As I said before,…Well Done on your map!
