If Russia is aggressive in its first move, all things considered, it’s game over for the Axis. It’s why I favor a house rule that forces the USA to spend a certain amount of money in the Pacific Theater-and units purchased can only be used in that theater of operations…
Does anyone still use paper money (ipc's)?
-
Afraid I’m old school and still using paper money for IPC’s. It easier to figure out what to buy when you can just subtract from the pile or just pay directly into the bank when bombers hit your factories. Just curious if anyone has reasons that this should not be done…
-
I use paper money from other AA games I own. Having a chart with roundels that are easily jostled just seems silly.
-
The chart with roundels is made for current IPC territorial values, not IPC in the bank, unless you have 2 charts?
Anyways, yes, we use the paper IPC from Classic to figure out how much we made the previous turn.
We also keep a tally on a piece of paper so that we can compare from game to game: “huh, last game G was at 43 IPC after G1, but it’s only 37 this time around. I told you Sealion wouldn’t work…”.
-
my knee jerk was to hate writing it down instead of actual paper money, but after a game or two, i actually find it more convenient.

Yeah same thing happened when we played. I made a log sheet that keeps track of IPC’s and more. check it out here http://www.axisandallies.org/forums/index.php?topic=22045.0

that’s the other thing, i’ve been using keredrex’s chart for the last 3-4 games. it’s a godsend. well, a keredrexsend at the very least.
-
We stopped using paper money years ago. It’s easier to just write it down. Someone posted some good IPC charts are few pages back.
-
I still use paper IPCs while playing. I like to lay down the cash and the pieces that the cash is buying and watching my opponents faces while I put some battle ships or bombers on the cash. I also like taking a wad of cash from the enemy when I take over their capital. I tried writing the income down but it was too much of a hassle for me. My group prefers the paper money.

Anyone got some pics fo the paper money for printing?

I used the link above. You could also go here:

I ordered a set of the IPCs for $4.95 since they are official IPCs from the AA games. Both work fine.

We actually had a player mistakenly start recording cash on the button pieces on the board instead of production, then the idea stuck. It’s actually a very convenient way to record cash, and there is zero reason to record production.

My gaming group still use paper IPCs and we wouldn’t have it any other way.

so how do you keep track of production? just count it out every turn?

When I play AA42, I’m often excited to the point I always topple the production chart.
So we usually end up recalculating that. It’s actually very easy and fast. You take the starting Nat. Prod. substract the territories lost and add the territories conquered. Usually there’s only 4-5 of them, so it’s pretty quick. I know it sounds obvious, but some people just add every IPC value of every territory owned, instead, which is quite longer (well maybe 15 sec longer).

Yeah, we always found ourselves checking it by counting anyways. You don’t have to count every territory though, just add up the couple territories you are up and subtract the couple you are down, takes about 10 seconds.

I found an IPC pdf file some where(forget where) but i could print of as much as i needed and its been far less complicated…

i agree completely

Personally, I just write IPCs down.
But when you don’t have paper money, you can’t fling it in the air and let it rain down on your head, then roll around in it laughing.
