RE: Rules clarification again and again
Ok, after reading the post on acronyms I saw that LHTR is used with A&A revised, but will still welcome any comments. Thanks.

RE: Piece Count
Yeah, my copy of Spring 1942 didn’t come with enough pieces. I had two “classic” A&A’s so I raided one of them. The Germans weren’t the right color, so I got some black spray paint for plastics, mainly for fighters and bombers.
The Japanese needed Tanks, fighters, bombers and transports, so I painted them with plastic paint as well. A little harder to find, but found some at a hobby shop.
Both the Brits and U.S. Needed transports, and the Brits needed fighters, and the colors matched in both versions.
Another thing I’ve done to reduce confusion (lost a major battle once by confusing a destroyer for a cruiser) was to paint the tops of minor ships, cruisers have red masts, destroyers have yellow and transports are white. The rest are highly distinguishable…

Rules clarification again and again
fellow world domineers,
After a bit of a vacation from the forum, I made the mistake of reading a post that said the “LHTR” is essentially the bible for tournament play. So of course i had to read it. I have to ask because unless Hasbro came out with some modifications to the rules, there are some conflicts.
1. The rules that came with (my copy anyway) of spring 1942 say that strategic bombardment cannot total more than twice the territories worth. The LHTR says no more than simply the value of the territory. Since I don’t play in tournaments, which is the overall accepted procedure.
2. When I played classic, every Ack Ack we flew over could fire on your planes. Spring 42 says that only Ack Acks in a country being attacked fire on planes. LHTR goes back to the classic way. Again, which is generally accepted.
3. Nothing is said in the Sping 42 rulebook about weapons development. And I ask again, is this generally accepted, or do these particular rules only come into use during tournament play.
Thanks for your indulgence…

RE: Strategic bombing raid
and, of course, as soon as I posted this I saw that there is an optional rule that covers this…sorry!

Does anyone still use paper money (ipc's)?
Afraid I’m old school and still using paper money for IPC’s. It easier to figure out what to buy when you can just subtract from the pile or just pay directly into the bank when bombers hit your factories. Just curious if anyone has reasons that this should not be done…

RE: Strategic bombing raid
hey guys…
I understand the rules as written, and typically when bombing factories my friends and I have only taken bombers on bombing raids. However maybe there should be an addendum where a fighter could escort the bombers and take the hit if a 1 shows up without having separate rolls. Of course this doubles the chances that the defender actually hits something. -
RE: German Strategy…beef up the navy or straight to Moscow?
what Germany needs is boots on the ground. Men, tanks and arty. No extra ships except an additional transport to bank some additional boots in Africa.
The key to this game is Germany and Russia. I don’t waste a lot of time worrying about Western Europe. By the time the allies invade, I have Russia on its heels.

RE: Submarine Rules…Whaaat?
well then…my friends and I have been playing subs incorrectly for 25 years. I assume profanity is frowned upon here, so (expletive deleted). Always thought I had a keen, intuitive grasp of the rules.
Your other point about “you’d be surprised by some of the questions.” Yeah, I’ve read some of the posts, plan to read many more, and agree that some of these folks need to apply just a teeny tiny little bit of thought before asking…

RE: What do you drink while playing AA42?
Good bourbon. Take a shot every combat and the game gets interesting very, very quickly.
