Thank you for the clarification. :)
How did playtesters miss J1 attack?
-
I was wondering how the playtesters missed the J1 attack, since it seems intuitive and the best strategy. The best explanation I’ve heard is that they missed the fact that the British BB and transports off Malay could all be sunk. Do you think this is the reason, or something else(like thinking the allies have a good counter)?

and how close did the japanese get to india?

No matter where the Japanese bombers land after toasting the UK battleship and transports–Siam or Kwangsi–they are vulnerable to an aerial UK counterattack.
The problem (if you consider there to be one) is that Japan can also land plenty of fighters / tac bombers to defend these bombers as well, so a careful Axis player can negate the effectiveness of this potential Allied counter.
I don’t think it’s realistic to assume that the playtesters miscalculated, or failed to notice the J1 bomber range: that’s the first thing they probably checked for. It’s more likely that they thought that the cost of putting all of Japan’s bombers in that area of the map in the first turn would have some longer-term strategic cost that balances out that Axis advantage (e.g., this move makes US stronger, richer, faster)… although the playtesters themselves would be the best ones to testify to that. Yoper?

But a stack of planes in Kwangsi can hit most of China, and can reach the Philippines and TRuk

I don’t think Yoper playtested Pac40. Pretty sure he was invited on for testing Europe (and global, probably).

How are you ignoring it? China will die easily, and India will be left with just India and maybe Burma and BC, and Japan with convoy raid with 2 subs, reducing UK’s income to 1 or 2
