I drove 9 hours to go to DragonCon 2011 in Atlanta with the sole purpose of getting into an Axis & Allies tournament, but no one else showed up…including the organizer of the scheduled Axis event.

My point with this post is not to complain (well maybe a little bit), but to hopefully generate enough interest in DragonCon 2012 that I can get into a game there. I’ve been to GenCon a number of times and there was always a good group there. I would just like to see the same at DragonCon.

I need someone to explain a bit better how this chess clock idea will work.

Let’s say the tournament round is set for 6 hours (which is what AA50 games are set to currently). This would then mean each team has 3 hours of time? In the middle of round 6, Italy is up and opps - the Axis run out of time - they automatically lose?

If this is correct, then I guess that means we want to have NO new people play the game. Not even people who have played but are not true ‘experts’. The only situation I could see possibly thinking about using this idea would be in a Masters type tournament. That would be it. Otherwise, you will kill any non-hardcore player from ever even attempting a tournament game. For the Masters, it might work.

I’d be willing to give it a try - just to see how it goes - but I cannot see how this helps grow the number of people who would want to play in a tournament.

Greetings AA Gamers,

At this time, I have started to update the Swamp with results and pics from last weeks Spring Gathering. There will be more coming, but just wanted to get something out for you guys to enjoy… Again, thanks to everyone that came out and made it this the great event it has become and to the sponsors and supporters. Also, I have added a new link and it basically revolves around G40 and the information we gathered from both games at the SGX. I am going to start including this information so that we can make a good and informed decision on how to proceed with FTF tournament games at Origins and GEN CON and the victory conditions, game rules (Alpha +3), etc.

And don’t forget, Origins is just a month away: May 31-June3, so don’t delay in registering…
