The confusion seems to be in you’re holding back naval ships for naval bombardment. The advantage about scrambling planes is that it forces the attacker to commit all their naval ships regardless if they want to or not. That’s why it is sometimes wise to scramble in a losing battle if the enemy is relying on bombardment for victory. The easiest situation would be when Japan invades the Philippine islands. If Japan was so aggressive that all they brought was two infantry with two cruisers as example. I would scramble the fighter in that situation because while I will lose the sea battle, if you choose to invade the island after the battle, you’re doing it without naval support which gives my defending infantry a better chance at winning.

Hey Fatherofsomeone… welcome to the forums. You may not scrable air units into an adjacent sea zone where a lone sub is attacking a lone transport. At least one defending destroyer would need to be present in order for planes to scramble against lone subs.
Hope that helps.

Many thanks Young Grasshopper for this. Big fan by the way and good luck:)

Actually you can scramble. Albeit it’s a bit pointless because you can’t hit the sub or save the transport. But this is an important distinction to remember as a function.
One time I was able to save planes from certain death by a pointless scramble. Sure the territory they were in was lost, but I was able to land them in an adjacent territory after and save them from certain death.

Gargantua
I read “Actually you can scramble” I was running like a mad man then I read the rest and now I’m like boo:) the thing is I have 5 transporters with nothing on them( brand new GB ) on sea tile 110 and didn’t see the lone sub on the edge of the map 125 and he caught me
But thank you Gargantua

Sorry it didn’t help you brother! Lesson learned I guess.

Bro it was a lesson but ouch.
Talk about ignoring this lone sub that ( I am salty FYI ) that finished me.
My 2ed time playing this game and now I’m hooked
Again sincerely appreciate the help

Awesome Gargantua, thanks for the insight.

Dirty move, Garg. I’m stealing that one. I think we should name it the Gargantua Shuffle or something sick like that. Hmm…maybe Gargantua Sidestep?
