Map for Guadalcanal?
-
Hi all. Been lurking on this forum for a while and I’m really impressed with the info you can find here.
After picking up AA1942.2 and playing a few games, I’d like to try out Guadalcanal but would rather not pay a premium price. Anybody have a map I could print out?

Hey,
I can take a picture of it the best i can, then you can copy and paste it…that may be an option for you.

If you are still looking for maps, there are a variety in the Marine Corps histories of the Solomon Islands campaign. You would have to add the required sea zones.

The only map I could find is this one:
Is there anyway to get it in a higher resolution? I’m interested in printing this out to the actual size of the original game board and I think this file is too small to have a decent quality look to it when printed.

Sadly no.
Resolution is set when creating the image.
It can only be reduced after through loss of data/detail/resolution.
You can’t add more detail in after the fact as it has to come from somewhere.
This is why vector maps are superior to raster maps. Vector is scalable without loss of detail.
raster has a set limit when enlarging before it pixelates. -
I’m a bit late to the conversation, but I cleaned up some parts of a scanned copy with Adobe and Corel Draw. I don’t know how it would print though.
Re: Map for Guadalcanal? -
I spent a little time reconstructing the Guadalcanal Map for the game. I haven’t ventured into printing yet. The original file was much bigger and needed to be scaled down in Corel to post, but am happy to share within anyone interested.

I also redid the base maps for the Japanese side.

And the base map for the US side.
