Thanks for another piece of the puzzle we call history!

But if I don’t keep a loaded gun under every pillow and bed there might be a situation where the bad guy breaks in and I don’t have a gun to defend my family.  It is my right to my kids shoot themselves because its only a tragic accident and its might right to have lots and lots of loaded guns everywhere.  One can’t let big brother take our rights away can we?

That’s why having a gun means your family members are more likely to die from a gun, its all about individual rights……

Don’t get me wrong, I love guns….just love it best when i am the only one that has one…

Most times when a handgun or rifle is not secured and a kid plays with it and somebody dies it’s just a “sad accident” and no charges are laid.

So, if one leaves powerful narcotics out and kids are playing in your house, take them and die….should there be charges?

What about toxic and poisonous chemicals?  So if I leave some arsenic around maybe in shapes of candies and kids eat them and die, should I be held responsible?

Police have said they are investigating whether to press charges.

A 4 year old kid dies and maybe charges might be laid?  How does a 4 year old die and no charges be laid?  Oh yeah, depends on what killed the kid and how powerful the lobby is for that thing that killed the kid.

I don’t think sexual orientation can be compared to a choice to believe in god or not too.  Being gay is not a belief whereas religion is.  If a child was brought up with no concept of god, I doubt they would believe in one.  A gay child could be brought up with no concept of being gay and yet still be gay.

There is only one type of gay, either you are or are not well I suppose there is being Bi.  Most of the religions have to be wrong, they all can’t be correct.  Therefore we know some true believers have it wrong if not all of them.

So the Pope defrocked 500 priests recently and most of them for sexual abuse of children.  It was asked how many of those child abusers were reported to the police and charged.  I believe zero was the answer.  Any other group would be charged with organized crime for that.

With risk you get more troops with more territory, same for axis and allies.  Seems the mechanics of ALL games i played work that way,

If having more land means you can support less  troops then having no land means you can support more troops than anybody with land?  Now that seems unrealistic.

I have played this game four times so far with a different and engaging experience each time.

My guess is he probably played it 4 times……but I’m a mind reader…or just one who reads   :-)

Well, first of all foot, you were wrong to assume that my comment was directed only at you.  You were just the most recent post.  That’s why I used terms like “you all” and other general terms.

Gamerman01, were you then referring to me?  I was one of those not so recent post authors?  If not me, then exactly who WHERE you referring to?

I often find that when you start throwing labels at others like “You are bitter” that its often wise to not post that, take a breath then investigate the possible irony of the statement you are about to utter.

When you say you are an atheist you imply religious types have it all wrong.  How is this different to non-Christian religious types when you claim you are Christian?

I know of no atheist organisations that compare to say the westbro baptist church.  Obviously not all religious groups are like this, but i know of at least one that is.  That is one more than any atheist group in their radical degree of ideology promotion.

God is great, every single one of them.  By definition for sure.

Hell is about to freeze over because I think this is the first time I gave an up arrow to IL to counter the down arrows on his comments.  Jesus what is the world coming to when I support IL.  Well I guess that shows that even a broken clock is right twice per day.

31 years might not be enough for something as prolonged and thought out as this crime was.  But again, if you are drunk and rich and kill 4 people while driving in Texas you don’t get a day in jail.  But the rich kid had a severe case of affluenza……  In comparison, this verdict is pretty good.  affluenza…  And lawyers wonder why there are a kabillion jokes like this…  What do you call it when there are a million dead lawyers at the bottom of the ocean…  A heck of a good start…

At least the drunk punk on a dirt bike who mowed me down as a pedestrian got 2 years less a day in soft ole Canada… of course he only served 8 months, still 8 months longer than the texas kid will serve.  Yeah…a dirt bike on a city street at 2 am.  Gotta love semi-rural living…

One thing I love about Diplomacy is there are no dice!  You take a territory but having more support for your attack then there is for defence.

If you have an army in territory ‘A’ and I have one in ‘B’.  I can try to enter ‘A’ from ‘B’ but in this case its a 1 on 1 so I bounce back to ‘B’

But if Joe supports army ‘B’ into ‘A’ with support of fleet unit in territory ‘C’ then army ‘B’ moves in and army ‘A’ moves out.

I think each turn is a season and once per year you determine how many units you can support based on how many territories you control that can support a unit.

Joe will show me how is unit supports my unit with a written order that he drops into the ‘hat’.  When I turn my back Joe sneaks out and talks to the owner of army ‘B’ and they decide to backstab me.  Joe writes new orders that indicate these supersede the older orders, places them in the Hat and moves on….back to me indicating he tricked owner of ‘B’ into thinking a backstab supporting him was going to occur but…

From what I recall everyone starts out with about 3-4 units.

You require a house where people can get out of sight and make deals without being obvious about it.

By took if you mean defended it from British Conquest in 1814 then yes, the US defended its borders after an ill fated adventure in trying to and failing to conquer a bunch of fur traders and their land.

In fact the United States acquired ZERO territory as a result of the war.  In fact the only thing the US got out of it was an end to British impressment of US sailors (arguably that ended due to the end of the war with Napoleon as impressment was not mentioned in the  treaty) and the other thing they got was a new paint job on the white house.

It did have the effect of unifying the territory against the US.

I wonder if the US never invaded what was to become Canada……if eventually all of North America would become US states…

Many of the battles occurred right around where I live now but few soldiers from the US actually came from the border areas whereas Kentucky seems to have sent many soldiers…about as foreign to people in Buffalo or Fort Erie, Canada.

In any event, things worked out in the long run, we’re all friends mostly and tis the season so… Merry Christmas everyone and Happy New Year!!!

I dunno about every other Canadian but the ones i know are rather happy on their skidoos and quads blasting around in the snow.  I for one love sliding around in snow in my truck.  I’m going ice fishing next month and that is always a blast.  Best fun I had in the snow was the Blizzard of 77.  It’s an opportunity to be the guy who is prepared and thus the saviour of others.  Helping your neighbours I guess is a socialist concept. perhaps that is why Canucks are viewed around the world as friendly folk……It starts out at home helping your old neighbours by shovelling their sidewalks and helping push people’s cars out of the snow.

Besides… its nice having snow around your house as you see footprints.  Thiefs have such a hard time in winter…  Crime slows down in the winter, keeps the homeless population down too.  Besides, winter gives Canadians a reason to visit Florida… I prefer Cuba myself, so many fewer Americans (if any) and the same number of Cubans as Florida so…
