You could be right about the mixing of old and new pieces. I have the original 50th anniversary edition, and have got to say that some of the pieces were miss formed and not of great quality. I have switched those out with other pieces. Since I own every edition except for 1940 Pacific, I can say that the older game pieces were of much better quality…but you need the newer games to get those newer sculpts, so it is a challenge to have it both ways. Anyway good luck, and hope you enjoy “anniversary “. It, and along with the original “Pacific 2000” are my favorite editions

RE: Soviet pieces turned brown (except infantry)
I really do not think your pieces have turned color. The infantry in the photos sure look like the infantry from the 99 version of Europe. I exchanged all my Russian pieces in my anniversary edition with those older pieces. Works much better for me as they are much different they the brown Italian troops… Also the recess on the base is also a clue. The older Europe pieces were deeper than the later anniversary pieces. I think someone has switched the pieces. This is just my opinion of course…

RE: Cruisers vs fighters [House Rules]
I have been using AAA for the house rules Cruisers for my Pacific 2000 edition for quite some time. The Cruisers roll first, like normal AA guns. Each Cruiser gets one die per attacking aircraft…a max a 3 die per ship. Rolls of one are a hit and aircraft is removed immediately, with no chance to engage in battle. NOTE: there were no Cruisers in this version…we added those, and Escort carriers that can carry one aircraft…adds a little spice into the game.

RE: Pumpkin Orange HBG Japanese Pieces
I have been also waiting for some of those items, especially the escort carriers…I sure hope HBG would these back in stock. I thought I read a post awhile back that they should have more pumpkin items in November?..

RE: Destroyers and Subs…Confused !!
Yep, that sounds right to me. You subs will always get their surprise “first shot attack” with no return fire, if there are no Enemy destroyers in the sea zone. Hope you enjoy “Pacific “. It is one of my favorite A&A games…good luck.

RE: Game box item list?
That’s great! Hope you enjoy it. I played the heck out of that game. I must be getting old……can’t remember what I had for dinner a couple of nights ago, but can remember how many units were in that game…

RE: Game box item list?
Hi guys, I’ve been reading this forum since at least 15 years but never posted anything yet! I am a big fan of the series; having all games released beside anniversary edition (exited they reprinting it) and 1986 classic edition. I am going to buy a 1986 version tonight and I am trying to find a list of items included in the box so I can see if something missing. As in this version, if i remember corectly, you can’t have more stacks of units than the number of units you have in the box. One missing carrier could be replaced by a newer version but I rly like to play a game with the original units.
Anyone know where I can find this list?
PS: sry for my english grammar, not my 1st language and I haven’t practiced in months
I have not played this version lately but I played it quite a lot in the past. I am pretty sure of the units counts.
infantry. 15 some games came with 17
Tanks. 10….fighters 10…bombers 4…subs 6…transports 6…Aircraft Carriers 2…Battleships 3… The unit counts are the same for all nations.
I think there is a rule that you can have as many units of a particular type in a “stack”, but you could only have as many “stacks” as there are of the unit type provided. Meaning that you could only have 2 territories ( 2 stacks) with as many chips under the actual unit as you want for the “Carriers”, and only 3 locations with the Battleships, but as many chips as you want under the actual unit…so yes you could have ten Battleships in play, but they could only occur in 3 different sea zones. Hope that makes sense… -
