I think Germany will most likely land some fighters for scrambling in the Med. How would you combat this?

The USS Lexington took two torpedo hits and 3 bombs during the Battle of the Coral Sea and continued flight operations until the battle was over. Some explosions later sunk it, but that’s pretty impressive. That was before they started putting torpedo hulls on the carriers.
The USS Yorktown dodged 8 torpedos in that battle. Got all busted up with bombs and scrambled back for the defense of Midway after a few days worth of repairs.
If they were so easy to kill why didn’t they just kill them before they did so much damage to the Japanese fleet? When the reality is every ship and plane is pretty much focused on taking out said carriers.
They are two hit pieces for sure.

SB is the shore bombardment.
I hate staring down a navy with a few 2-hit capital ships. I’m just thinking in my head how much it sucks that I need 4 hits before I start taking ships out. If you have that you will never get naval strafed.

I think I would prefer to use the Alpha rules. I plan on using the global Alpha +2. I assume this is what you mean?
Edit (again): Ok, so I tried to use alpha, but I do have a couple of questions if anyone can help out. Does the US get the OOB IPC set with 17 to start +40 when they go to war? Also, it seems that only US NO’s that are applicable to the Pacific are 2-4, not 1-4. Just a little confused on NO’s and income I guess for the US.

German Strategy
Buy Bomber first turn. Dont bomb R1 Start campaign strategic Bombing campaign R2 .Also there is a Chance Russian fighters wont be in Moscow.Buy tank and Mec units as well.
Then R2 buy 5-6 Inf for Paris and rest on Mec and then same again go after go. Find Mec Move To East front quick dont waste time on Industrial complexs.Drive for Leniongrad with Main force first via inland route not Baltic coast as this can force a retreat by Leningrad defenders.JAPS- Keep 4 jap bombers for bombing moscow. Drive jap land force thru north china. R3 build a Airbase in suiyuyan R4 Start bombing Moscow with 4 bombers. Meanwhile You’ve kept up your Bombing with the two german bombers- This wrecks havoc with USSR right at its time of crisis and realy limits what they can put in. Also be moving bulk of forces against russian front as well. This plan has worked for me even when the worst luck happened to my bombers. I still did enough damage for it to be effective.It also demoralises the Russian who are already coming to terms with an early German attack on R2.
Is an airbase necessary here? Am I missing something?

Factories build planes. Airbases are runways, hangars, fuel depots and ammunition storage. I’m not seeing your connection at all.

I recommend you first find a good spell check ASAFP.
Your game sounds pretty much lost, but you may be able to learn something from it if you retrace your steps. I bet if you explained your opening strategy in detail some of the gurus can help pinpoint where you went wrong.
What I did want to point out is that if you find yourself in a pinch where you are dropping transports and they are killing them right away is problem solve the situation. How do you protect a transport? The answer is to build warships. You can also drop the transports in a seazone that allows you to scramble fighters.

My understanding is there are three ways the US enters the war. It would be interesting if there are more.
1. US gets attacked by any one of the axis powers.
2. London falls.
3. Round 4 they are automatically at war.Not sure I understand the other part of your question (not that I would probably know anyway).

With the Baltic strait closed, no TT and hardly any ground troops, what is the UK gonna do for the first few rounds? & the US can only land US5.
As Germany, you need to take advantage of that timeframe by taking Moscow.
I rather not take Yugoslavia and/or SZ 111/110 than delay barbarossa
I just realized that the Baltic strait is a strait so if you fortify Denmark and W.Ger they will have to land at Normandy or Holland UK3 at the soonest with US right behind.
Sounds like if you don’t have Russia on the ropes by G4 you are going to have a very difficult time responding to the invasion. Maybe Italy can help out here a bit

So how do you handle the Brits with a mostly intact navy? I would think they are going to UK1 clear out the German navy and place TT’s and ground troops for a UK2/UK3 invasion.
Would it be too late for the Brits and just leaving a few German INF behind to slow them down would work until you could recall from the eastern front?

Afraid of what? Russia? I don’t think they’ll be spending IPC on navy. USA? 50 IPC worth, not in position to attack UK yet. You’ve built a Naval Base in Normandy, you can land 3 fighters to protect your fleet as well. Germans know no fear. 8-)
Edit: This is assuming the UK dives it’s fleet to India because it’s pretty dumb to suicide on the Italians in Alpha+2 with 2 German planes on Southern Italy.
This is a serious question because I am inexperienced.
What about the UK planes? And the French plane if he feels like suiciding it to finish something off? I guess I would do what I said above and buy more planes UK1 seeing that you didn’t buy any more navy. So that would be something like 5-6 planes. So a BB, CR and 3 scrambled fighters versus the royal air force and maybe a French plane on UK2 and F2 respectively. I’m also assuming that the UK navy was wiped out G1.
I have to say though, this really has me thinking. Maybe something in the middle of a heavy G1 navy buy like a couple of DDs would be better?

G1 Build: 3 Transports
Bank 9 IPCG2 Build: 6 Transports, 1 Airbase (Normandy), 1 Bomber
G3 Sealion Attack: 10 Infantry, 8 Tanks, 2 Artillery, 4 Fighters, 4 Tactical Bombers, 2 Strategic Bombers
Run 1 Fighter and 1 Tactical Bomber with Battleship and CruiserUp against what? 22 Infantry and 5 Fighters? 84% win for Germany. If UK scrambles you got a 81% chance to win, and you have a 98% chance to win London afterwords.
Wouldn’t you be afraid of your navy getting attacked and losing all of your transports?

I always build 6 transports. Since I always clear sz 110, 111, 112 the brits lack the capacity to overcome my BB, Cruzer, and 3 fights. This allows maximum striking capacity, as attacking the USSR and the Brits are both legitimate options, It forces the Russians to pull back and the british to build 9 inf or forfeit London.
If I saw you do this i would probably use the idea from the other thread and buy 3 tac bombers as UK. It would be a close fight, but you have a good chance of losing everything if UK has 3 FIGs and 3 (maybe 4 with one from africa) Tac. What about 4 transports and a CR?
Also, I am very curious, what happens when UK scrambles on SZ110? As Germany I guess I sort of want them to lose their fighters but they may pull it off. Do I need to commit extra air as Germany to SZ109 and 110?

I think the standard G1 build is a CV, SS and TT from what I have read here. I think a CV and a CR would be cool to get that extra shore bombardment. I think I like a CV, SS and DD best though. I like the more hits and I think both will be very useful after.
Just curious, what did you buy and what did the Brits use to kill off your fleet?
