Rule changes?
Does this version have any rule changes compared to the first anniversary edition? Or what was the updated rules about?

RE: Coolstuffinc misprint?
The “1942” image was released as an advance announcement for the original printing and is of a prototype. All of the production boxes say “1941”. BoardGameGeek has the prototype version of the box as its main image, which is very confusing. It has led more than one person to question whether a copy of AA50 being sold online is authentic. I have asked them several times to change it to the production version, and they have done so every time, but then someone else (presumably the person that uploaded the prototype image) asks them to change it back again. Most likely that is the source of the image on CoolStuff’s website, as the image has the original AA50 logo in the lower right corner.
Makes sense I thought there was only one version but just wanted to make sure. Thanks guys

RE: Coolstuffinc misprint?
It’s actually got two different setups in the box. 1941, and 1942. Something none of the other versions do.
Yes sorry I mean on the picture in the description. Coolstuffinc says spring 1942, amazon and others say 1941. I was just wanting to make 100% sure they are the same versions

Coolstuffinc misprint?
The picture for A&A anniversary on coolstuffinc has it as spring 1942. Amazon and everywhere else it is 1941. Its the same version right or am I missing something?

I’m north of Salina, KS. Too far I know, but hope you find someone

RE: Help! Russian/Japan Question
From what I understand yes that will cause a declaration of war with Japan. Also, I think if Japan controls Chinese territories bordering the mongolian territories, and Russia attacks first against one of those territories, then you will not get your 6 guys from mongolia. Someone correct me if I’m wrong.

RE: Any players in KC or st. Joseph MO

RE: Losing Major Battle with Axis in early game - forfeit?
If basically all your attacks went bad, to me you might as well forfeit. We had a game like that a few months ago. My opponent didn’t do anything wrong, he just rolled really bad and I got almost all my hits. After 5 rounds it wasn’t looking good for axis at all. But it depends on what went wrong and what didn’t. A lost attack on british fleet doesn’t mean the game is lost. But an all round bad 1st round for axis…its hard to win imo

RE: Mobilizing a CV and landing planes on it
Can you mobilize a CV in a SZ that contains planes that would otherwise be lost if not for that CV? Are the planes lost? Is the only way to have planes on a brand new CV to build them at the same time? Thanks!
If I understand you correctly then yes you can build a cv and place it in a SZ containing planes that have expended all their movement points, or even ones that could land elsewhere and they are not lost. You can even plan an attack with planes stating that their movement will end on a newly built CV as to create a means of landing them if I am playing right lol.

RE: Optimal UK1 med to clear italian fleet
I think the normal attack is sending everything in 97. including the cruiser if you still have it, and bomber from Britain. First time I did Taranto that’s what I did. 2nd time I decided to get creative and purchased an airbase for malta, and attacked sz96 and had all of my ships left plus 1 or 2 I could scramble from the airbase. I think I also sent a transport and attacked Libya to cause a small nuisance to italy’s forces in Africa, although unnecessary and you will lose your transport. Due to lucky dice I actually came out better than I should have, but I still stand by that option.

I will be moving to hutchinson in the next few months. Wanting to find a group or two to play with when I make the move. Or before perhaps if your ever up this way

RE: Low luck or not?
I would play something inbetween LL and dice, med luck perhaps. LL seems to predictable and less fun. Even though you can get screwed with dice, thats the fun. One game I should of had russia, or at least left them with very few remaining units, but they had around 20 because I rolled horribly. But in this current game I am allies, and I rolled really well on all my defends so far, and have gotten lucky on my attacks(I rolled bad, but so did he, ended in my favor though), doing a good amt of damage overall on the first two rounds. On LL it wouldnt have happened that way, it would have only happened one seemingly linear way.
Probably making LL sound worse than it actually is, but I’m just not a fan.

RE: Kamikaze refresher.
so are you asking if you only announce your kamikaze strikes when the opponent states that he wants to resolve a specific sea zone? instead of announcing all your strikes at the same time after the combat move is finished?
If so, I don’t see the advantage of such unless your are destroying him in the first couple battles, even so I myself would strongly consider using them all or at least 5 of them anyway(depending on the situation, as it most likely wouldnt always be the best option), that way I suffer less casualties and come out stronger, given you hit with your strikes
I actually have a post on the 1st or 2nd page about Kamikaze strikes, although probably didn’t explain my intent of the question as well as I could have. But I know you announce scrambles and your strikes at the same time basically. Haven’t wondered about multiple sea zones
-
RE: Question about scrambling and kamakaze strikes
so basically at the same time? you scramble your planes, then decide how many kamakaze strikes your using at the beginning of combat?
-
Question about scrambling and kamakaze strikes
Do you decide how many kk strikes to use and how many planes to scramble at the same time? Â or do one and then the other after? Â I am assuming its the same time, but we just used our first kk this game and didn’t see it in the rulebook as to what order.

RE: Rule clarification regarding submarines
Thanks for clearing that up, I figured that would be the answer and that is how we play, but I just wanted to be 100% sure. And I agree the strict neutrals are probably not a part of the russian NO. But can understand how the wording can confuse that.
-
RE: Rule clarification regarding submarines
We’ve been wondering if subs block destroyers movement the past game or two so thanks for the clarification. And not to hijack the threat but also have a question regarding neutrals. If germany activates a pro-axis neutral, then russia captures that territory, does russia still gets its +3 NO? or is it only if germany doesn’t take it first?
-
RE: Amphibious assault retreat
Its my understanding that they have to retreat if all ships have been destroyed, and they are more than likely to be destroyed on the opponents turn unless of course there are nearby allied ships. I don’t think they end their movement in the coastal seazone being assaulted as there are enemy units.
I’m not an expert so someone correct me if I’m wrong

RE: What do you use to count losses from combat?
@Cmdr:
Too much work. Remove casualties after each throw of the dice but allow the defender to “trade” a hit on one unit for another unit.Â
Isn’t what most folks do? I’ve always just removed the causulties after each throw. Both attacking and defending. On very rare occasions, when there’s like 20-30 units attacking & defending, we’ll use tally marks on the dry-eraser board.
Yea thats what we do, or a hand count in small battles. I just created this thread b/c I hate using tally marks. I don’t know why, don’t understand it myself, but would just rather do something else.
