Yes, as long as every plane has a valid landing spot.

In Classic 3rd edition (defending only, no subs can submerge in Classic 1st and 2nd editions) and Revised, yes.  In original Europe and Pacific, attacking subs can submerge immediately, while defending subs must survive attacking fire first.

I think you mean Revised, as subs had no effect on transports’ loading in Classic.  Also, because attacking subs can submerge before any dice are rolled in original Europe and Pacific, substalling is much more effective there, especially in Pacific.

Commando Brado, wow this was a bad predicament to be in. I’m assuming that Japan was in allied hands and this was a last ditch effort to get it back (it gets one turn to do so). Boy did you get screwed by not having any ships that could take out those US subs, or force them to submerge. I didn’t think much of the a/c not having an attack value any more til now.

Edit: The only other scenario I could see where you would want to bring Jap transports into sz 6 combat is you still have Japan, and are trying to liberate Korea.

No.  They are both automatically destroyed.

I received my “corrected battlestrip” and additional Japanese tactical bombers but the battlestrip is still wrong as it doesn’t show the tactical bomber/tank or fighter combo as hitting at 4 or less unless I am mistaken.

Well you do gotta know that stuff though. Like in the 1942 edition (and I’m sure earlier) artillary supports infantry but the strip doesn’t show that. I understand how that’d be useful but if you want one that shows that stuff I saw a really good 1 in one of these threads (maybe even this one) to print off

Okay, don’t have the rules in front of me so I  have another question.  US attacks a Jap  fleet with only subs.  Since the Jap fleet has a destroyer and the US doesn’t, do the Japanese subs in her fleet get a first strike attack and at what die roll. Totally confused with this rule.

My reading of the rules is that yes, the Japanese subs get first strike as the US doesn’t not have ASW provided by a destroyer.  Subs roll at a 1 for defense.  Roll for your sub stack, US removes hits (rolls of 1) from the board immediately.  Then US can roll for his remaining subs at 2 (for attack).

yah, and it would be easy enough to bring in some infantry and perhaps an AA gun as well.
