Us invasion question

i knew it from the date of release it was revise but because.i did buy the game in 2005 but nowhere on my box it say revise and when i read behind the box it also say spring of 1942 the world is at war oups :wink:

so anyway that mean the attacker must choose to retreat before the defender sub choose to submerge or not thx alot.

First, let’s say Allies went Kill Germany First.

Germany-controlled Africa means UK has lousy production - it may not be able to produce 8 units a turn, and what it does produce will mostly be infantry that are lousy on attack.  Added to that is Germany producing 3-4 units extra a turn.  End result is UK attack down, Germany defense up, and Allies have a pain in the a** breaking Europe.

Besides that, US can’t just insta-build transports, it needs a defensive fleet first, or its transports get wasted by German air.  So US does NOT have a fat transport fleet to begin with, so it doesn’t have enough to maintain a East Canada-London/London-Europe chain, nor is Germany probably weak enough for US to start a 1-transport chain between East Canada and Western Europe.  So US drops to Algeria while it builds up extra transports.

So much for the basics.  You drop to Africa because you don’t really have any place else to go with US at first, and you need to stop Germany from overrunning it anyways.

“Advanced” stuff - there are things Germany can do to extend its control over the Atlantic and Africa, which I won’t get into at this time, but maintaining drops to Africa can be the right thing to do in SOME games, at least.  Basically, in KGF, you don’t want Germany controlling Africa, period.

Fair enough. As long as it is meant as a provisonal measure to stop any german influence on africa, it is ok. As long as it should be the major strategy to bring the US troops to the war, it is doomed to fail, i think.

No. Your one movement is the loading onto the transport. Any land unit on a transport can be loaded and offloaded on a single turn but it takes up all their movement.

Submarines:  Can they attack other subs without a destroyer? It seems like that is not a legal attack.

BlitzKrieg:  Ok say you (German Player) have a front of 10 tanks in West Russia with 20 inf.  Novosibirsk is unoccupied.  The russians have a sizable force on Russia (territory) to defend your attack.  So you send in 9 Tanks all your inf to attack.  You win (as the G’s).  Now can your 1 tank that hasn’t moved blitz through Russia (friendly zone now) and capture Novosibirsk as well?

I’m guessing that its not legal but we are trying to iron that out.

SO not sure if this is an retarded idea.  However, we didn’t like subs not being able to attack other subs.  So our rules of engagements are as follows.  If you want to attack an enemy sub you first have to spot it.  This is determined by rolling a 4 5 or 6.  If you do spot it then you caught them by surprise on the surface.  Then you can attack.  However, the defending sub has an option to defend at “1” or try to submerge and disappear by rolling a 1 2 3.  50% chance vs defending at 16% chance.  If the attack fails and the other sub doesn’t submerge successfully you repeat till the subs are destroyed or the defending sub evades.  Of course the attacker can decide to retreat as well.  I have an alternative rule but i figure i run this one by what do you guys think?

You can attack them but since submarines can always submerge before any shots are fired if an enemy destroyer isn’t present the most likely result is that the defending sub will simply submerge to escape battle.

That move is illegal. You can only take enemy territories during the combat move and combat phases.
