Welcome to the forums Merlin!  My brother, a work friend and I played a game this weekend.  We started at 9am and went on till 6pm!  The game did manage to finish with Axis getting 16 Victory cities.  Our games usually take a long time because we do not get to play often, so my brothers and cousins go at a slower pace.  If you get to play more frequently, people will fall into their groove and the game should start flowing faster.  Good luck with the next game!

Corsica was Vichy, but in 1942 Hitler got pissed off and took alot of their allowance away because they kept waving white flags when the Allies attacked them. Corsica was administered by Germany but its really in the Italian sphere of influence.

i know its nov 42, but still close enough… if your more of a purist then just give Sardinia 1 IPC but call the actual land territory

that’s a good point, rockrobinoff. if there was some serious attempts at SBR’s on Italy’s already small economy, then the invasion through Italy becomes much more viable

Well, there’s two factors you didn’t mention (I dont have the game yet, so I am working from the bits and pieces of info I gathered so far).

That 43 British IPC allow you to buy a AC, and a factory (Eastern Canada). Merge your british remaining fleet with the newly built AC and put 2 Ftr’s on it. This will fend off any german aerial attack, or at least deminish the Luftwaffe if Germany does decide to strike on G2.

On UK2, start building transp’s in EastCan, and land units in London. Move fleet to EastCan for defensive measures, toss in maybe another Destroyer or so.

Sure, it makes it tougher for the British, and far from impossible.

That 43 IPC opens up a lot more other options aswell. AC + BB, Cruisers, whatever…

The majority of italian sculpts are recycled from other axis nations and this is a lost opportunity for making Anniversary a “perfect” edition. Moreover the brown colour for Italy is a sub-optimal choice

Only one thing I do not agree. USSR received a lot of truck, half-truck and other necessary supplies. Thanks to this supplies Soviet Industry has been able to focus on building only tanks, guns and rifles. Despite that the great majority of USSR units moved on foot and logistic was made using horses! Only Soviet Tank Armies (of wich only 5 existed) where mechanized. The remaining part of the Red Army went on fight like the Armies of the WW1, by train to the front and then on foot. German Army was more mechnized than Red Army and German were losing the War.
Having not her economy supported by USA the Red Army should have a lot of logistic problems.

So, I have always thought that in A&A factors like: turn order, IPC and initial set up are related not only to the quantity but also to the quality and training of the units, to the logistic, and to the economic organization of a nation. Anniversary confirm this idea, having two different set up with different turn orders.
