You should be able to pick up some Panzer IV’s cheap enough, and they can counter any Allied armour.  Though your PAK 40s rock armour too!

With these new rules, you cannot start the game with your 88 or Bofors loaded on a transport, move to a drop location on turn 1, and dismount it.

How is that not broken!?

Agreed, this needs to be fixed.

BTW I have to say that Gazala map is awesome and looks like it has a lot of posibilities.  Are yo ugoing to put out scenarios for it?

I just played a few games with gamer, and these situations came up a few times.

When does the movement occur during the assault phase?

At one point does a unit need to be able to spot for a mortar?
Heres a situation. I have the initiative. If I move a soldier during the movement phase into LOS within 4 hexes of a unit (spotting for my mortar). During the assault phase (I go first with initiative) I attack that enemy unit with my mortar (spotting with my soldier). My soldier doesnt shoot, and instead moves during assault phase, out of LOS, and thus can not be retaliated against. Is this legal?

An inverse situation is this. I DONT have the initiative and go second. My opponent has already done his attacks. During my ASSAULT phase, I move my soldier into LOS and within 4 hexes of an enemy. Can I then use that spot for my mortar?
Basically, when and for how long does the spot have to occur?

1.  You resolve move/attacks for one unit at a time.

2&3.  I assume you are refreing to the mortar w/ the “Improved Indirect Fire” so any unit can spot?  The special ability (having another unit within 4 hexes) must be satisfied when the Mortar’s assualt is resolved.  It doesn’t matter if the soldier moved before or after that.

Can anyone tell me where the best place is to look for buying new map tiles?  I actually mailed all mine away as part of a donation, and now I’m kinda screwed on maps…

Paratroopers, Armoured/Scout Cars, even Heavy Tanks firing AI at it all work well.  I’ve found the best units are the bikes and polish cavalry.

The trick is not to let the Bofors get it’s points worth or more, so don’t expose units unnecessarily to it.

I guess my challenge would be getting used to those maps again.

I was thinking of lettered columns and numbered rows, like battleship. Use the facing as described above. Counting movements should not be a prob. I think a code chart for unit shorthand would be wise too, to speed the play.

I finally made my choice.  I’ll keep my units in ziploc bags, but I’ll transport them in a used ammo box.

thats what  i do to, it works. why make it more complicated, i dont need to look like some mafia sniper carrying a big long black box around. allthough i do use a WWII ammo can, not my Nam ones. :wink:
