@TG:
Whoa, you guys actually have an Independence Day!? From who and from when!?
We have reunification day
Anyways, lets say Germany won the World Cup (hypothetical of course) and everybody here was hoping and hollering about, so much that over there they even declared it a National Holiday. As for me, heck, I don’t really care, truth is I even rooted for Brazil. Now, do you see me purposely going out and say, in front of those German fans, “So what? No biggie.” No, that’s disrespectful, means a whole lot to them, and it kind of soils their celebration. That’s what I was talking about.
I find it as disrespectful not to know what GMT means, which is an international standard. I find it disrespectful to talk of inches and pounds, which defy an international agreement on units (well, and cost NASA at least on mars probe). I find it disrespectful to say “who cares about the G8?”, because that disrespects the ppl from G2-G8.
I find being too self-centered a really bad and dangerous thing in this world, and i will try to make ppl think about it, even if i have to hurt their feelings in the first place to get their attention.
“No double standards against europeans !!!”
Who said anything about Europeans? If you from Canada or Mexico, I would still say, in front of our national holiday, keep your comments to yourself.
Well, as you felt dissed, where you cannot prove that i wanted to diss you (you can suspect it, and feel dissed), the same way i can claim that of course you were only accusing me of dissing because i am european, and this is just a try of you to talk yourself out…… :) (i hope you can understand what i tried to say).
To get back to your example: Hell yeah let him say “no biggie” … i would ignore him and celebrate.
Why do you americans always (trust me, it works every time!) feel personaly pissed at, when someone from the outside says anything close to “the US are not the best and greatest and coolest nation of the world, and do not rule…”
have a look: it worked here !
