Landing fighters on a newly purchased carrier

I feel like I just read the Axis & Allies edition of Moby Dick

If I have several destroyers, does it keep all of them for last? If so, that seems pretty useless since you’d really only want to keep one while using the rest for fodder.

You roll separately whenever units that can’t hit other units are involved. Rolling together and assigning the rolls to the units of your choice violates the principle that the owner of the hit units chooses casualties.
