Precedents: Most war strategy games (even those more complex than AnA) operate under simpler dice probabilities or have calculators built in (analogized as a ‘general’s staff’)
The probability of success/failure in a battle exists whether you chose to know it or not. Not using a calculator is to chose to be ignorant (granted, for the ‘fun’ of the game).
Calculators make you a much better player much faster (reasons given in the video).
