I’ve never gotten Iraq this quickly. I have absolutely no idea if I should make a stand and try to defend it or to just let the British over-run it. I can’t figure out which option would be to my advantage.

There is no easy way to reinforce it unless you can control Egypt. Landing planes there will get quite expensive, while UK can quickly get ground troops there from both India and Egypt.

I did the math. My Japanese zeros are just barely out of range. I can land (basically) my entire German Luftwaffe there. You can hit it with (what?) 4 inf, 5 fighters, 1 tactical bomber, 2 tanks, 1 mechanized and a coastal shot. I could defend with 5 inf, 3 fighters, and 2 tactical bombers. Its dicey. Very expensive for both of us. But I think you are like an 80% favorite even if I land strat bombers there just get more pieces in the Middle East.
If I lose 3 fighters, 2 tach bombers, and 2 strat bombers, that might be my game. I may have to let it go. This sucks, you planned too well.

I have never had success getting control of North Africa or Middle East in the early game. There gets to be more options by round 5 or 6 when the Axis has more powerful air forces. Right now, I would gladly trade British forces for German planes since that relieves so much pressure off of Russia.

The thing is I am not sure I even need the Luftwaffe vs the Soviets. I think with just land units, I have Russia crushed in this game (what with what Japan has done.)
The problem for me is that there is absolutely NOTHING for your spitfires to do other than challenge me in Iraq! You don’t even need them (not really.) Its like, you could lose all 5 and its not even a big deal. You are correct, it is a much bigger deal for Germany at this point.
