  • Alright folks, a couple of admin things.

    1. UK euro gave me an error message and didn’t allow me to post turn details.
    For future reference, is there a way to view that to copy and paste it into the forum after the turn summary page?

    2. As I said before, this is my teammate’s first real Axis and Allies game. (He played a couple of turns as US mostly not at war in a practice Euro '40 on TripleA, but didn’t get much experience out of it because of the way the game went).  I think its good sportsmanship to try to limit edit mode use as much as possible, especially when correcting some details from a former turn; however, with him not being experienced at using TripleA, much less playing A&A in general, I can see it as reasonable to cut him a little slack, but that is of course ultimately up to you folks.

    The edits in question:

    A. His edit on US turn: Before the end of his turn, he edited in the ftr and tac that had 1 move left each into sz7 because he wasn’t aware the planes weren’t landing in sz6.

    B. The second edit, I performed on UK’s turn, AFTER his turn.  We had discussed him moving his troops from E US to Gibraltar and unloading them there.  This is certainly what he intended to do, but I noticed that he had not actually unloaded the units onto the land during his turn.  Speaking to him, he was foggy about the difference between units at sea on a ship and units on the land, but we cleared that up.  I edited the 1 inf and 1 arty onto the Gibraltar land space.

    The first edit I see as no real harm.

    The second edit occurred during an Allies block of turns, so I don’t see it as doing any harm, but I certainly would not have any hard feelings if you guys felt that second edit was unfair and edited the situation to its original state on your next turn.

    Finally, good news!  My trip was pushed to the right several days and amazingly, even in the deepest thickets of the bayou, my ratty hotel will have internet access so I won’t have to dump all my turns into my teammate’s lap.

    I’ve been having this problem in another game, as well. My solution was to leave the “post territory summary” box unchecked for the UK. If the same person is doing the Chinese AND the UK then before you press the “done” button for the Chinese turn, uncheck the box, because if all the boxes are checked when you end the Chinese turn, all of the boxes will be automatically checked by tripleA at the end of the UK turn and you’ll get the error. Hope that helps.

    Yep. I believe my partner is out until the 17th if I can recall correctly.

    On a side note, since we have a few days and I have time, does anyone object to me updating the map to the new 1.6.1 engine? The old 1.5.1.2 engine is giving me fits in the one other game I am playing with it and I’d like to permanently remove it from my system as soon as possible.

    On another side note, The Long Dark Tea Time of the Soul is still sitting on my coffee table collecting dust since I hadn’t put it back on the shelf after reading it again about 6 months ago. I wish I could find my copy of Dirk Gently’s Holistic Detective Agency.


  • Updating is good by me if its less trouble than dealing with the current issues you have.  I haven’t even looked at the change log yet, but hopefully its worked through a couple of kinks.

    To be honest, I’ve never read any of Adams’ Dirk Gently.  I used the name because its mentioned in a part I enjoy in one of his Hitchhiker’s, and those books were a topic of discussion between my partner and I recently.

    I need to pick the Dirk Gently books up, though.

    I’ll take a shot at it sometime after midnight. Turns out most of the problems are on my opponents end, but I’d still like to get this updated anyway. I’ve got 3 separate icons for the different engines and I’d like to get the 2 obsolete versions off the books.

    Game was paused for your break. I edited the map to fit the 1.6.1 engine, but otherwise nothing new.


  • Just so you folks know, I am in a rather high tempo work situation right now (18 - 24 hr workdays), but this circus should end the 21st.  I haven’t checked the updated map, but I trust your diligence.  Once the 21st hits, I should have little else on my radar.


  • I am back home now. Finally updated my program to boot.
