This game is awesome! Ignore the haters! In my humble opinion, Germany should be given more resources for the chaps who pursue Europe First. Or implement house rule that says a certain portion of every turn’s IPCs must also be used purchasing resources to only be used in the Pacific.

Welcome, spmtiago!

If a ship is sunk by a Surprise Strike (note that a battleship is not sunk by only one hit), it does not fire back. The only exception is a sub that is also firing a Surprise Strike. Since both Surprise Strikes happen at the same time.

The UK may either ignore the Japanese sub or attack it. If UK ignores the sub, it may assault the Solomons. If UK attacks, it must defeat the sub (sink it or force it to submerge) before it may assault the Solomons. If UK attacks the sub, the Japanese sub may choose to submerge immediately, avoiding battle. If the Japanese sub chooses to fight, both subs get a Surprise Strike, and they happen at the same time.
