In order to attack an island’s airfields, you must designate at least one air or sea unit as attacking them.  You roll this attack separately from your units that are attacking land units (if any), checking only for hits (1s or 2s) in the battle box and disregarding the unit types listed by them.  For every two hits scored, one airfield is damaged.

Thanks for the answer, i have one more questions which regards the use of submarines. Do destroyers need to be present for other units (planes, ships, artilley) to attack subs? acording to my understanding of the rules subs can attack y their move phase but remain in that sea zone sorrounded by the enemy fleet and can be attacked by all that fleet meaning it will likely be destroyed. This is why sometimes i am reluctant to use my subs. COuld some one clarify this for me please. Thanks.

Destroyers are not required in order to attack subs.

Subs are naval units and subject to attack during the attack naval units combat step when in the same sea zone as enemy units.

Your sub shots at a single vessel amongst a big enemy fleet are quite likely to result in the destruction of your sub in the subsequent naval attack step. Subs, fighters and destroyers don’t have a long life expectancy.

You use a movement point every time you cross a border between two zones, whether they be sea or island zones.  When you leave an island, you cross the border into the sea zone and use one movement point.  When you enter an island, you cross the border from the sea zone and use one movement point.  When you move from one sea zone to another, you use one movement point.  Conversely, if you don’t cross a border between zones, you don’t use a movement point.

Ok, one more question:

At the beginning of the game, Japan has at least 1 unit on each island. In the case of Choiseul or Santa Isabel, if you remove that single infantry, do you lose control? Do the reinforcement points suddenly go to the natives? Or is it still yours until someone else lands a unit on it, hence the Japanese flag icon indicating you have control in the box with the single unit?

If the US player has no ground units on that islands, than you keep control.

Second part:
If you have 1 AAA on and island, since it has no land attack value, can it keep control of an island for you?

If the other player has no units on that island: Yes.
If the other player has land units on that island, but your navy near that island has in summary more supporting points than your enemy with ground units and navy: Yes.

In short: You only lose control of an island if the enemy has ground units on it and the dice value of enemy force is bigger than yours. Naval units only count if there is at least one ground unit (can be an AA gun) on island. Air units not count in.
