Question about Night Fighting and Command decision

The supplies must be on the island on which you’re building the airfield.

In order to attack an island’s airfields, you must designate at least one air or sea unit as attacking them.  You roll this attack separately from your units that are attacking land units (if any), checking only for hits (1s or 2s) in the battle box and disregarding the unit types listed by them.  For every two hits scored, one airfield is damaged.

You use a movement point every time you cross a border between two zones, whether they be sea or island zones.  When you leave an island, you cross the border into the sea zone and use one movement point.  When you enter an island, you cross the border from the sea zone and use one movement point.  When you move from one sea zone to another, you use one movement point.  Conversely, if you don’t cross a border between zones, you don’t use a movement point.

New Georgia was the most contested spot in this blowout game, US ground troops landed and were reinforced but were never able to secure the island and once the USN was pushed back away from the Island the US troops were wiped out. The IJN completed its destruction of the US fleet in this game and we called it off. No one reached VP points but with the IJN steaming off the New Caledonia waters it seemed pointless to continue.

In general I view this blowout game as that abnormality that won’t happen often, in fact I love this game for its balance and that its up to the players to make choices that change the battle.

In our games New Georgia is often the most contested Island.

Yes I agree airpower was dominant in the pacific but in this campaign the night actions should be modeled as there were so many such engagements in the slot.

I like the idea of some sort of night rules (long lance, radar etc); I see there is an optional rule for the Japanese to use a nightfighting token but I don’t think this is what Commander Hara had in mind.

Is there a place where these and other suggested “house” rules are being accumulated for A&AG?

I have played the game now and the instructions are not clear on one thing.

Do you only pay supply to move ships from the cards during deployment or do you also pay during movement as well?  I noted the instructions show you only pay during deployment…

If you want to move ships or planes from the island card during the deployment phase you must use a supply or more depending on where on the board you want to go.

All other movement does not cost a supply.
