Thanks guys…OK I’ll go with the 4 day approximation. Does anyone know where I can get a graphic file of the game mapboard that I can use to overlay the historical OOB and unit movement info?

RE: Time Scale
I’m in the process of playing this neat game and as we approach that glorious day in June (65 years ago :) )…it got me thinking about OOB’s, time scales and reinforcement charts etc. which I want to validate what the game implements against other 3rd party sources (I have several good texts about DDay). I just need an approximation for the time scale as a frame of reference.

Time Scale
Does anyone know the time scale represented by each turn in DDay? I figure the units are brigades or regiments.
Thanks.

RE: Worst A&A game?
Like D-Day.
Cant stand Bulge. Worst game by far.
Can you clarify why you like DDay and dislike Bulge?
P.S. Sorry if this duplicates anything already said in the “Bulge” folder.

RE: Axis & Allies: North Africa?
I agree that A&A North Africa a la Bulge would be a great addition. I would look at the old Attactix game “8th Army” for inspiration; it integrated the important supply lines of the med (strategic map) with an operational map. (see http://www.boardgamegeek.com/boardgame/7243) I would give the operational map more hex areas though so you could have the sweeping armoured thrusts.

RE: Worst A&A game?
I have D-Day and Bulge. I must say I prefer the play in Bulge…has anyone tried to apply the Bulge rules to D-Day?

RE: Guadalcanal night action and long lance torpedos
Yes I agree airpower was dominant in the pacific but in this campaign the night actions should be modeled as there were so many such engagements in the slot.
I like the idea of some sort of night rules (long lance, radar etc); I see there is an optional rule for the Japanese to use a nightfighting token but I don’t think this is what Commander Hara had in mind.
Is there a place where these and other suggested “house” rules are being accumulated for A&AG?

RE: Guadalcanal first impressions
I too have had problems with the battlebox. I find frequently the 11th-12th dice don’t always settle properly. Also on a couple of occassions when shaking the box the sleeve has opened and a few of the dice flew out knocking units around the board.
I like the “battle strip” idea…I may give that or something similar a try. Can the same results (probability) be achieved with fewer dice (i.e six)?
Great info being shared in these forums; Thanks.
