Meant One map only for a shorter game.was talking Europe, but have a few problems with Pacific concerning set up, especially
Vis a Vis missing Russian Inf. In pacific only Japan should not be allowed to empty Manchuria and Korea as Russia borders them. Played a friend who sailed his Us fleet to Australia on T2 , before my T3 DOW. Was legitimate, but I feel it should not be. I now accept T2 DOW is seen as all as best. Would like to see a clarification of stand alone NOs and starting set ups. Sorry if I sound unclear.

Hi,
I am looking to play A&A again after a pause of over 20 years. I am looking at buying both 1940 versions. Until i buy them i want to read the rules and re-learn the game. There is something puzzling me. It seems that the rules i found here http://www.axisandallies.org/node/438 say that there is 6 countries playable but a pdf from Wizards says only 4 countries

That’s the link for the previous AA Europe release, which did not include Italy or France. AAE1940 does indeed have 6 controllable powers, although I’d only advise 5 players at most as France is rendered impotent with a competant German player’s first round. AAE1940 rules are not yet officially available online from Wizards.

Wow,
Alot’s changed in the last 20 years of Axis and Allies. You’ve got alot more playable countries to work with, namely France, China, Italy, and ANZAC. USSR always goes after Germany now, the submarine rules are WAY different, Battleships and Carriers take 2 hits to go down, they made the cities on the board the victory conditions, there are diplomatic rules as in how and why the USSR and USA come into the war…
Also, a list of the new pieces:
-Artillery (pair with infantry to increase attack power)
-Mech Infantry (moves 2)
-Tactical Bombers (pair with fighters or tanks to increase attack power)
-Destroyers (anti-sub)
-Cruisers (less powerful Battleship)
-Air Bases and Naval Bases (increase range of planes and ships)There are major and minor complexes now, SBR rules are different, and if you go into neutral countries now you have to fight instead of paying 3 bucks.
