I’ve seen it happen multiple times in SZ6 around Japan, where a massive US-fleet first sends precisely those units ( sub+air+tt ) in an amphibious assault because they can’t be targetted by kamikaze. After the amphibious assault, the rest of the fleet moves in during noncombat.

Good advice Wild bill. I would also say be patient. Bad dice, especially 1st rd, on a big naval battle can really skew things.

I tend to J2 (never J1, IMO too much advantage in holding off a round) and have started putting a few units in the Carolines on J1. At worst it doesn’t change anything, at best it gives a few strike opportunities. Unless your plan is a very early (J4) India capture, it’s a good move.

I have been starting with a BB, loaded carrier, sub, dd there and sometimes a transport as well. The merits of Japan taking the inf off Carolines to use in attacking other islands are worth discussion, since they’re the only Japanese land units in the starting setup that typically don’t get used offensively. Even the Paulau inf gets used for Celebes often, and the inf in Iwo Jima can be utilized without going out of your way too much.

HI knp. I would pull the TT back, unless the US did not have a Mech in the West ir a second TT. In which case, I would drop one of my adventuring Inf units in Alaska.

Why is there the rule that industrial complexes cannot be built on islands, even if the island meets the IPC requirements? You should at least be allowed to build minor ICs on islands.

Because a minor on PI if Japan doesn’t declare war is OP for the US.  Instead of 3 moves from the islands, they are now in the middle of it.

The setup also says to put “artilley” in Western US and Japan… so what have you been doing about that? :-D
