We played Global last night and we had a little “argument”.
Germany Strategic Bombs London and brings 2 fighters as escorts. London had 2 fighters and 1 Tac. Only the fighters may scramble to intercept correct? The TAC has to stay put. The only time the TAC may “scramble” is when it’s an island in the Pacific.
We just want to make it clear.

Tacs can’t intercept strategic bombing raids
This has confused me also. In the Europe directions, it says that both fighters and Tac Bombers can defend on a strategic bombing raid. However, it only has fighters listed as defending at 2. Did I misread something?
I don’t think it says Tac Bombers can defend on Strategic Raids. It says “Fighter Interceptors” I believe. Just in seas zones that can scramble. It has the rule in Europe but is not really practical since the only real islands to do this is Iceland.

Or Malta, if you build an AB on it :) (but that is scrambling, not defending from strategic bombing)

Calvin, if i conduct a SBR on a Naval Port In Gibraltar with 2 german bombers… the 3 fighters on Gibraltar can scramble or only fire the AA gun?
If I do a bombing raid on a city that has an AA gun and I bring fighter escorts. Does the AA gun fire on my escorts or just my bombers?

I believe just the bombers. Pretty sure AA firing occurs after the fighter escort/intercept casualty rolls and only targets the bombers that got through the fighter screen.

Scrambling is different than strategic bombing escort/interception.
Yes, all three fighters can INTERCEPT the bombers and each plane gets a roll. Any territory that is a valid strategic bombing target (has a factory, airbase or naval base) can use fighters to INTERCEPT bombers on a run against one of those targets, but these fighters cannot participate in any other battles during that round.
The AA gun fire is only for the bombers since they would make it on through a small dogfight that occurs if fighters were involved in the strategic bombing run.
As for the bombing of a port or airbase, remember that even if your bombers make it past the fighter defense the naval base or airbase gets an AA shot as well. They have built in AA where as a factory does not and requires a AA gun to placed for defense.

Wrong. Factories also have built in AA defense.
AA guns are ONLY for defending territories from attacks, NOT strategic bombing, in any way.
There are two seperate rules you are confusing
Scramble - Fighters and Tacs may join the defense of a seazone the island they are on is completley surroned by. Air base required
Interception- Fighters may engage enemy bombers or fighters during strategic attacks in a special combat phase.
Ah I guess I miss read that somewhere, could have sworn in the Pacific book it said something like factories don’t have a built in AA gun, gonna double check the rule book myself.
“Facilities” Have fire as per the rules of an AA gun if they are strategicly bombed, they fire at bombers only.
