Figured I put in a name for mojo
Mojo isn’t good with copy and paste. :-D
29 so far.
We’ll definitley lock it down at 32 people, and any extras after that would be alts. I’ll go to an Alt position if we get 33 and JWW said he’d be an alt or #32 if we needed it.
man i have tried to copy and paste i just can’t figure it out :?
Just registered on this forum (although I’ve stumbled upon threads here before when searching up rules that are argued over) and I’m wondering where you guys do this tourney. If I got some info and could work with it, I’d likely be more than willing to join up, as the only people I generally get to play against are my dad and one of my friends.
Hello kdfsjljklgjfg,
Welcome to the forum. Interesting user name, makes me wonder if this is a prank, alas lets assume you are for real. :-)
The tourney is played on the forum using an application called Abattlemap. In short you write out your moves on the forum, use the in “forum dice” for dice rolls and create a virtual map using Abattlemap. Check out the forum “play by forum” if this sounds interesting to you. :-)
The Desert Journalist had to pull out due to time constraints.

Also note, if we end up with less than 32, then we’ll go with Byes to the top finishers from last years no-tech tourney, and then a random roll if another bye is needed.
The top seeds are:
#1 - DY
#2 - DutchmanD
#3 - Zygmund

There’s a long story behind this name that begins three years ago, but alas, that is a story for another time. I’ll look into it and get back with a response.

Welcome aboard kdf……!
If you need any help let me know. Also, turns (just one move, not a whole round) are expected almost daily in the tourney. We don’t have a hard deadline, but we try to move fast. If you have any weird schedule, some players can only play on the weekend, then let your opponent know when we start. Also any time you might be gone for longer than 3-4 days, give a heads up. We will default people if they just seem to disappear with no warning.
The tourney’s are always fun and the players are friendly and helpful…but competitive too. :-D
For the tourney players, I’m planning on doing the brackets this weekend.
As of now, all that I can’t figure out is how to delete a piece from the board after it’s already been placed. Other than that, generally I’m available pretty much all day (except when certain specific hockey games are on), every day so posting turns shouldn’t be an issue, but should some freak thing come up, I’ll be sure to give notice. I’m excited for my debut game!
In the top right corner of the map it says “UNDO DEL ESC.” Click “DEL”, and then your mouse turns into a crosshair–any time you click any icon on the map it will delete one of whatever you clicked. Shift+Click will delete 5, and Ctrl+Click will delete 10 (that shift and ctrl trick also works to place that many pieces respectively). “UNDO” will undo whatever your last action was (duh!), and “ESC” turns off “DEL” or returns your mouse to a movement function if you were just using it to place units/markers.
Thanks a bunch :-D
Or if you have a middle button on your mouse (in addition to the left and right buttons) that will delete units in the same way without having to choose DEL first.
I’m excited for my debut game!
If you have the time, you probably should try a PBF game in the Play Boardgames board before the tournament gets started, so that you can work out your system for posting game moves. Below is the thread to find players.

Choosing Sides
You will be bidding for the Allies.
Full placement bids. Standard bid rules apply (can only place bid in spots where you already have units, etc.)
You will bid in IPC, but you can spend the bid on units once bidding is completed.
Bidding will be done in an Auction Style to keep everything in house.
Once brackets are assigned I (or another mod) will do a random roll for each round to see which player will start the bidding (either top player on bracket or bottom). The players will then bid down until one player concedes the sides.Example
Player 1 - I’ll play the Allies with 9
Player 2 - I’ll play the Allies with 7
Player 1 - I’ll play the Allies with 6
Player 2 - You win, you can take the Allies with 6
Darth,
A question, What happens if both players want to play as the Allies for 6 IPCs and neither is willing to go below six, do you then roll for sides, or is it just whoever says, “I’ll take the Allies for 6.” first gets the Allies.
Second question: If one’s opponent is willing, may one suggest before bidding, that the IPCs be a limited-placement bid? Such as, Limited to bidding for Chinese infantry units only, with any leftover 1 or 2 IPCs going to the Allied player’s choice of country?
Hello, gang! I am a new member here, but I have been watching the forum voyeuristically for a few years. :-o I want to sign up for this tourney! It will be my first one online or anywhere else. I have only played one-on-one with a friend in person for a while.
I am going to go study some over-the-forum games to get up to speed on how that works…

#1 - There shouldn’t be any ties. I will be rolling a die to see who bids first, so that player may have a slight adv but will set the starting point, and from there you must go lower.
#2 - I’d like to try and keep the bidding uniform in a tourney atmosphere. So no unique placements/requests.
