  • OK so the sea battle near Gibraltar didn’t really matter as I got a hit and you didn’t, so the sub would not have had an effect on the battle.

    Lol, that was quite the aggressive G1. Lost a bunch of submarines and two planes which is pretty bad but we’ll see how it plays out!

    I am giving you back a fighter in the North Sea. Here is why: on the first round of combat the Germans scored three hits and you left the UK BB alive. Without knowing how many hits the British are going to inflict on the Germans, I would have left the destroyer alive - not the battleship as you did. The reason for this is that the battleship by itself is vulnerable to German submarine surprise strikes whereas the destroyer is not. In round 2, the Germans whiffed and the British rolled a 2 so that is good no matter if the shot was from a battleship or destroyer. On round 3, the German air units finish off my “destroyer” and then that unit rolls a “4”. A four is a miss from a destroyer.

    Therefore, I am giving you back a fighter and placing it in Germany along with the others.

    With that adjustment, this opener sees Germany missing 3.02 pieces in the Atlantic and -0.15 pieces on the east front (par on the east front).

    Net German opener: -3.17 pieces

    Yeah, for the purpose of solving these games and uncovering what works best, the “ha ha, gotcha!” is not helpful. Happy to oblige. I’ll have this turn out today. Playing as the Allies in this game is incredibly complex I’m discovering.

  • @VictoryFirst this game started out with Germany -3.17 pieces. They are +9.42 pieces. Yes, that is a scrapbook moment. All the Russian battles were 94% or better and still there was a 13 point swing. Shocking.

  • Yes, I can see the thunderclouds forming above Moscow… those bad dice were devastating for the Russians.

    Would you like to continue this game? Personally I prefer to start a new one because I think this game is over. Moscow is probably going to fall on G4 and if not then definitely on G5 (however, that might not be a certainty if you roll exceptionally well and I exceptionally bad, so if you want we can still play on and see what happens. Either way is fine).

    Sure you can be the Allies again. I hope the dice are with you this time! 😀
