Sea Units moving out of contested zones

Can units move from sea zones containing enemy units into sea zones containing enemy sea units? For example, if a USA destroyer is in a sea zone with a Japanese destroyer, can the USA destroyer move into an adjacent zone that contains a Japanese Destroyer as well? or does it have to stay in the sea zone it was or move to a friendly/neutral zone?

Yes. There is nothing in the rules to prevent it.
