RE: Japan is an island?
In AA50 the rule was that any territory entirely in one sea zone was considered an island; this worked perfectly considering Japan touched 2 different sea zones. Does anyone know why they went back to one sea zone around Japan?

RE: US starts at 52 IPCs, goes to war - 92 IPCs, chart goes to 72 ???
I’m confused, if the US in a global game starts out at 52 IPCs and gets the 40 bonus when at war, that will make 92 IPCs already and the IPC chart only goes to 72.
Since the original A&A if a Country makes more money than is on the IPC chart you would just put down another token on the chart, so if America was making 92 you would have one US symbol on 72 and one on 20.

RE: India looks great! (no double hump)
A&A games are still being produced from 21st century maps. Don’t you Americans have anything older?
Well considering how so many elementary schools in the mid 90’s still had globes with the Soviet Union on it, I’m sure we do. :wink:

But wasn’t the brilliant AA50 made by the same uncaring company?
Yep, AA50 was so brilliant that they did 2 broken scenarios where allies cannot win because they did ubercrappy rules for China (one of then passed to AAP40) and they didn’t playtested Asian mainland :roll:
I was just quoting Lozmoid who said AA50 was brilliant, but I will agree with you the Axis do have an advantage in both setups. But I have been finding out that the way the allies can win is through unconventional A&A strategies, but which are actually the historical strategies. For example American wolfpack tactics in the pacific.

RE: German strategy for the world game
@WILD:
In 40E (or global) the German starting navy might be worth investing in though w/Baltic out of UK air range and the Danish Straight. Better hold on to Norway :-D As usual though Germans building navy will cost them in the land battle.
I was thinking a German navy in the Baltic could be helpful in the fight against the Soviet Union; the Soviet Union is huge and being able to bring troops over to Leningrad and other Baltic states could be huge.

RE: German strategy for the world game
Best strategy I have found with Germany in AA50 is to buy a submarine and a fighter for the Battle of the Atlantic each turn. Keep the submarines in different sea zones and it causes Britain to buy destroyers, and when Britain puts its navy in range of your air force you destroy it without any chance of counterattack. Also the air force can take care of any American fleet that comes over, and with the rest of your money you fight the USSR. Now in the new game with the convoy rules I feel this strategy will work even better, submarines will drain Britain of resources and keep their navy spread out and busy.
