    • RE: Can't Seem to Win as Allies,…Help!

If you want, follow my league games for Allied.

I’ve only played allied there, as my bid doesn’t ever win.

My strategy stays pretty much the same.  No game is ever the same, but I believe in Russian Inf w/ about equal Tanks.  There is nothing worse than losing board position because you only have inf.

What makes armor great is that you can use them to halt Japan from advancing, then turn around and threaten Germany if they venture too far.

Germany is always worse as a giant, so I put my efforts to thwart their advances.

Against a very good Japan player, KJF is very tough.

I’ll admit, I’m tougher with Japan than Germany.  However, my overall axis play is OK, but I will only play them with a certain bid.

If you are losing to the axis with no bid, but 8 VC, then I understand.

From what I can tell, you are playing with 8 VC and out of box rules, correct?

What if you bought the trannies, but the Battleship you started the game with.

I consider that a win if you take out something you start the game with, vs. something you had to buy… and it cost the same or close.

don’t forget either you have to purchase an AA or load a tranny for a turn brining an AA there.  That’s another 5 ipc.

This is all assuming that the Allied didn’t go for the Kwang Bang.  If Allied did go Kwang Bang with no Bid in Asia, then Japan is going to be hurting.

It’s very similar to attacking subs.  They can retreat to a sea zone where attacking units came from, or they can retreat by submerging.

More than likely, China figher is gone.

More than likely, 3 hits are almost gauranteed in Pearl Harbor Japan attack

      What is the bid?

Don’t forget that trannies can pick up those infantry on the islands.

According to Larry Harris, the fighter lands after the combat sequence for that sea zone.  So before you roll any other combat, you resolve the landing spot for the fighter first.

If it lands in India, and India is taken over, then the fighter is lost.

If India survives, and is not taken over, the fighter lives.

    • RE: Landing-spot trickiness

So in this situation, it is the attackers advantage in determining the sequence of combat resolutions.  IE if the attack the territory first, and overtake the territory, they KNOW that that territory is not a valid landing spot.  Therefore, knowing they could retreat from a naval battle that will result in a fighter lost at sea, if that is the order in which the loss was stated.  If the naval battle was rolled first, you may not be sure that you overtake that territory.

It’s always good to ask for order of loss anytime a sub may submerge, bomber defending with other land units, or a carrier is defending.

If they roll all battles at once (like what happens on the site using the in-house dice) then the attacker would lose this advantage.

Switch noted the rule above that once combat has been declared no reinforcements can enter the battle.

Therefore, if the fighter could land immediately, it would be inconsistent with the rule about reinforcements entering battle.

French Resistance is not just on UKs turn, it could be USA capturing West Europe and the UK still get inf there on USAs turn.  LHTR state that allied just needs to take it.
Radar could be used in India too, to make the Zeros think a bit more before flying into/over India.
Mideast oil offers flexibility in Uk early on.  It allows for your RAF to get in better position for those early rounds.
Russian Winter can make the Germans stop in their tracks.

Nonagression/Russian Winter combined with Enigma/Colonial Garrison with Chinese Divisions and Mechanized Inf can make a big headache for Japan.

    • RE: Landing-spot trickiness

the question is… what part of the attacking nation’s turn is it?

I veiw it to be in combat.  if that is so, then the nation who must decide where to land their fighter declares.

Then the rest of the turn is as normal as can be. IE, after combat (and all related combat moves/retreats/ etc, must move.

I’m 33 years OLD.  I am old, I admit.  But I live young.  And raising my daughter keeps me young.

I’m a male.  I’m not married.  I’m not happy being single, but sometimes I can be.  It’s nice to be single in the summertime when my daughter visits her mom.

Land of the midnight sun makes for all night camping, fishing, and biking.  Among other stuff.

I think the rules state it pretty clearly that it is a combat related move.  Combat related moves, allow defender options regarding their defending units.

giving the option of where to land the defender’s units to the attacker is not consistent with any part of the rules.

      @General_D.Fox:

I agree with you there Jen about England’s and Russia’s.  I got the “Non-Aggression Pact” b/w Russia and Japan.  All I have to say to that one is, friggin’ bah humbug!  :x  My friend wasn’t even too worried about me sticking 4 extra guys in Novo.  He just brought along almost his entire airforce to eliminate what I had.  And England’s advanced radar?  Come on, it’s only good for ONE point in the game, and that’s it.  And honestly, who even knows when the best time to use it is anyway?  You could end up playing a 20 round game and never be sure, ‘oh, is this the time I use it, or is THIS the time I use it!!!’ Â

Well, I will say that if you are saving that Enigma, you’ve lost your advantage.  Non-Agression Pact is not about stopping Japan, it’s about delaying them.

UK IC build is never a recommendation of mine.  I would always say to maximize production in the UK and focus on Germany.

However, if you build that IC in India, you’d better buy US navy in the pacific to keep it UK.
