Infantry, and get help from your Allies. It’s often better to get support than retain the 5 IPC bonus for having no allies in your territory.

RE: Germany Strategy
I’ve always liked to buy mostly infantry in the first round as Germany. I can then send them towards Russia to help buffer the tank losses, or keep some around the coast for defence depending on how the first game round plays out.

RE: Please Read Before Opening your Anniversary Box 2017!
I think it’s an issue with the cardboard spacer they’re using, and how the box is packed. If the spacer is directly over the storage boxes, and pressure is applied to the top of the box during transport, then the spacer indents the storage boxes.
If the box is packed with the token and card sheets in-between the storage boxes and the cardboard spacer then there doesn’t seem to be as much as an issue? That’s just going off what I’ve heard from different people.

RE: The Return of Axis & Allies Anniversary Edition
@Baron:
Did someone look at how different is the rulebook from original AA50 rulebook?
It’s laid out pretty much the same. There’s just a few sections where the faq/errata has been added. You could only tell by comparing the old and new rulebook together.

RE: Coolstuffinc misprint?
I think the box should say 1941. I don’t have my copy in-front of me right now though.
-
RE: Coolstuffinc misprint?
It’s actually got two different setups in the box. 1941, and 1942. Something none of the other versions do.

RE: The Return of Axis & Allies Anniversary Edition
@The:
Also, has anyone been seeing any damage on the new games, particularly the parts/container boxes and rule book.
It seems to me that the box may have been packed incorrectly. The box lid support cardboard strips that were inside should have been on the cardboard punch out sheets and not the parts boxes. Got some creases and indentations. the box lid is fine, so the supports worked for that, but the parts boxes did not hold up.Yep, mine arrived with indent damage to all the storage boxes and rulebook. The worst was to the UK box. I contacted WotC support and they’re sending out replacements apparently.

RE: The Return of Axis & Allies Anniversary Edition
Germany is black. The colour is pretty close to the original A&A Anniversary for all nations. Not exact, but very close.

RE: The Return of Axis & Allies Anniversary Edition
Italy
Tank is from 1942 - okay, but would have been cool to have the original sculpts
Artillery is from 1942 - big upgrade here, the original artillery was pretty bad for Italy!
Fighter is from 1942 - nice upgrade
I’m guessing they mean 1940 second edition as 1942 doesn’t have Italy.I’m hoping so too, otherwise that would mean we’re getting German pieces as Italy, which would be very disappointing.
I’ll probably be mixing pieces together from the original to get a desired mix. Just hoping the colours are the same. Also odd that we haven’t seen any updated pictures of the product yet.

RE: Multiple Industrial Complexes in same territory
I’m reasonably sure you can only have one factory per territory. I don’t have the rulebook available at the moment though, sorry.

RE: Anniversary Rules for Classic?
@Baron:
Do you mean there won’t have any Destroyer to buy, only the Classic units?
No artillery?
No, sorry, I mean use the Anniversary rule-set in the Classic game version (where appropriate). Just an idea really, and I was wondering if anyone has done something like that in order to make the transition from Classic to Anniversary easier.

Anniversary Rules for Classic?
Hi all,
I’m thinking about using the Classic game as an in-roads to getting a few people I know playing Anniversary. Do you think it would be stretching it too much to utilise the main rules from Anniversary for Classic?
Mainly I’m thinking about transports having no combat value, to stop players from just building a massive transport fleet.
Has anyone tried something like this?

RE: Re: Field Marshal Games Pieces Project Discussion thread
well i think the german infantry with the overcoat looks bloody brilliant!
what are the ship classes/types for the german ships?
-
RE: FMG GERMAN pieces
i figure you want iconic german equipment represented. i’ve put in an ‘or’ option if i mention a unit that is already represented in the a&a games
Tanks: Panzer IV
Tiger/King TigerArtillery: sFH18
Mechanised: sdkfz251
Truck: Opel Blitz
Fighter: Me109 or Fw190
Tactical Bomber: Stuka or Bf110
Bomber: He111 or Ju88
AA: Flak88
as for naval units (including the transport) i’m honestly not too sure about that area. i’ll leave it to someone else :-P

RE: Table Tactics plastic pieces out - German & British
i think that they look horrific.
sorry, but the quality is dissapointing when compared to the fmg sculpts. and the guns would just look odd on an a&a board
-
RE: Re: Field Marshal Games Pieces Project Discussion thread
looking very stylish indeed. fmg sets for each nation will look quite snazzy on our AA50 boards 8-)
-
RE: Re: Field Marshal Games Pieces Project Discussion thread
glad to see this project coming along, no matter what colour the germans are 8-)

RE: Re: Field Marshal Games Pieces Project Discussion thread
grey would be more appropriate, but i don’t mind the darker grey at the same time …
the wehrmacht and the ss pretty much shared the same style uniforms, accept that the ss utilised camo patterns during the last few years of the war. the ‘black’ ss you’re thinking of were the allgemeine ss, but they weren’t combat units

RE: Favorite WWII Anti-Tank Gun/Weapon to destroy a Tank?
do you know what is was?
-
RE: Favorite WWII Anti-Tank Gun/Weapon to destroy a Tank?
it was basically the flak 37, but with a sloped front plate and lower mount. awesome gun that was able to penetrate the heaviest of allied armour (same gun as was in the king tiger and jagdpanther)
they also made a pak43/41, which was the same idea except on a wheeled base like the pak40
