During Home Defense of Japan, the Japanese player gets 2 Infantry units for free in Japan - before any combat begins.

All Japanese Infantry units defend at “3” during the first round of Combat only. From the second round of Combat all Infantry units defend at their normal Defense Factor.

Japanese Fighter units in Japan defend at their normal Defense Factor during Home Defense.

The Victories & Defeats has been updated with the 2024 gaming season results.

This is most likely the last update in 2024, since all Axis & Allies games for this year are over.

The free ships (Increased Ship Building) that Japan and United States receive during 4 rounds, must be placed in each round as they become available - after the US player has completed the US turn.

So, in your case you must place the US Cruiser unit and Submarine unit in sz 10.

Part of the Strategic Plan for both Japan and the United States should include a plan for the use of the free ships - and anticipate a possible scenario as the scenario that you experience in your recent game.

A good idea is to place the free ships on the side of the game table, so you can easily see when they become available.

Most importantly is, that Gibraltar is constantly threatened by Axis invasion from mainland Spain.

This gives the Axis control over the passage through Gibraltar by surface ships.

Also, by capturing Gibraltar, the Axis prevents the Allies from using an important Naval Base that can threaten Western Germany by a sea borne invasion.

The updated OPERATION FELIX-HEINRICH includes the revised SetUp of units in Spain that are described in the G40 Strict Neutral Expansion rulebook.

The core of the Danish Axis & Allies Association is 5 Veteran Members.

We founded this Axis & Allies Members Club in Early 1993.

We have since then created a fund to pay for our events. So it is all private fundings.

The entire association counts 88 members across Denmark, Germany, Norway and Holland.
Most members are from Denmark, naturally.

We are planning the Axis & Allies Global 1940 Expansion World Championship.

The event takes place in Early 2026 in Denmark.

The Danish Axis & Allies Association will pay all costs concerning accommodation, food, supplies etc.

For players who travel to Denmark from outside continental Europe, the Danish Axis & Allies Association will also pay parts of the travel costs.

For payment concerning travel costs, each player will coordinate with the Danish Axis & Allies Association.

To participate in the Axis & Allies Global 1940 Expansion World Championship the following must be fullfilled:

• At least 3 games of Axis & Allies Global 1940 with the rules in Section I+II+III+IV from the Axis & Allies Global 1940 House Rules Expansion must be played by each player who wants to participate in the championship
• 2 of these games can be played on TripleA against at least 1 other player
• At least 1 game must be played as a boardgame - face-to-face against at least one other player.
• All these 3 games must be recorded and published at the Global 1940 & 1943 Game Report thread at this forum with supporting pictures and text.
• All players must be a member of Axis & Allies.org

Questions can be posted at this thread.

For this event, a special set of Tournament Rules will be fabricated in order to reduce the time for each game to 8 hours.
The rules that are selected from Axis & Allies Global 1940 House Rules Expansion wil be announced in Early 2025.

Convoy rule:
Exception 2:
An Escort can protect 1 or 2 friendly Transports. When an Escort is in the same SZ as a friendly Transport the owner of the Escort can choose to create a Convoy. A Convoy consists of 1 Escort unit and 1 or 2 Transport units.

Note 1:
When multiple Escorts and Transports are in the same SZ, the owner(s) must define which Escorts are protecting which Transports (if any). Each Escort must protect 2 Transports before any other Escort in the same SZ can protect 1 or 2 Transports, etc.

Back in Early 2023, Dark Knight and I had a game, where I was playing the Allies - and gradually preparing the USA for an invasion of the Home Island of Japan.

This picture shows the situation in Late 1944 and clearly demonstrates why it is extremely difficult to invade Japan when you play against a Highly Skilled Opponent:

An Allied Economic Victory was achieved before the invasion of Japan took place.

Saturday 12th April 2008 - I lost a game of Axis & Allies Revised with Expansion rules.

I was playing Germany & Japan - and Dark Knight was playing the Allies.

In round 3, Dark Knight invaded Japan with 2 US Infantry and 2 Tank units… against nothing… - I simply didn’t focus enough…

This is the only time during my entire Axis & Allies “career” that I have lost Japan.… at least so far :-)

These pictures show the Expansion units as well as OOB units that the German player has in the game tray.

Note 1:
All units are hand painted in order to distinguish the various units from each other.

Note 2:
Most of the Expansion units - such as Paratrooper units - are all painted in the maximum number of units that are available to the German player.
In other words:
During the game the Expansion units are used as original game pieces - not with gray or red plastic chips under a unit.
So when Germany has 2 Paratrooper units in a territory then 2 Paratrooper units are placed in that territory - not 1 Paratrooper with a grey plastic chip underneath.

Great game report.

Pictures would have been great - also a few pictures from a round where things start to go one way for the winning side.

Remember:
The game is a formidable Two-Player Game when you use the Axis & Allies Global 1940 House Rules Expansion.
Then you don’t have to coordinate with multiple players to find a date for a game.

Also, it is a great way to plan your own Top Secret Strategy.

And you can have Tournaments where all games are 1 vs. 1 player.
