Diplomacy
Any of you guys play the game? And what’s your opinion of it? I just got it today and it seems quite confusing compared to Axis and Allies but I imagine I just have to get used to it.

RE: Historically Accurate Pieces?
The Stukas were used all the way to the end. Even though they were awful fighters.
-
RE: German destroyers to the rescue!
destroyers in normal Axis & Allies?

RE: Historically Accurate Pieces?
The P-38 Lightning was actually a very, very good fighter. Though I’d rather see the Mustangs instead since I like them more but oh well. And I agree with you with the whole Panther thing but the Brits used the Shermans alot.

RE: A problem with transports
the way i sometimes play is that the transports can move twice as much. like if there was a transport between England and Western Europe or Japan and Manchuria, then that transport would be able to bring 4 infantry or 2 tanks since the distance isnt much at all.

RE: New Britain = Best Island for Japs
I also noticed that besides New Britain, if you wanted Mega Japanese Air Cover over the Pacific, then it would be good if you captured or held onto the Solomon Islands, the Mariana Islands, and Formosa. By having these islands, you would be able to cover the whole Pacific besides the American coast, southern Australia, the South-West corner of the map, and the Indian coast. Besides those, you can fly planes throughout the Pacific ocean.

New Britain = Best Island for Japs
The good thing about A&A:Pacific is that they make some of the islands strategic so there’s a point to invading some islands while isolating others. But one of the best islands for the Japs to take and hold has to be New Britain, near New Guinea. With New Britain having the Airfield thingy, the planes could then go an extra space. and it has the naval thing too which could make the ships go farther also. and by capturing New Britain, and having fighters there, those fighters can harass any Allied ships in the ocean from the Ryuku Islands, close to Japan, all the way to almost the other side of the gameboard by Fiji, which is right above New Zealand. With New Britain, you could harass the ships in port at Australia, any ships the the Phillippines and any ships in the Central Pacific. That island is a good investment. When I was playing, I fortified the island with 3 infantry, 2 artillery and 1-2 planes making it almost invincible to most amphibious assaults, unless the Allies desperately wanted to take it but that ould have taken multiple turns.

RE: Axis Strategy that would be cool if it worked.
Exactly, Mr. Casual. Like I said, it’s based on much luck and assumptions that the Allies have misfortunes.

Axis Strategy that would be cool if it worked.
This strategy is for use towards the ultimate Axis victory. But this strategy’s main fault is that you really have to depend on luck of the die at some moments and on the Allied players’ faults, too. The whole idea is to use a pincer movement in which the Germans come from the West and the Japanese come from the East and efficiently attack the Soviet Union. But the difference between this and other usual strategies is that the Germans and Japanese main focuses of the game is to take Russia quickly and then focus on the other objectives. The Germans build up their forces on the Eastern Front quickly and invade as soon as possible with over-whelming forces. The Japanese do the same but, of course, on the Russo-Manchurian border. Once the Germans and Japanese have to put most of their forces into the Russian attack, and hopefully, with luck of the die and misfortunes for the Soviet player, the Axis will be able to conquer the Soviet Union. During this huge attack against Russia, the Germans will be putting some forces into attacking the British in Africa and the UK navies around Europe. And the Japanese shall be attacking China, Sinkiang, India, Australia, and New Zealand while also dealing a death blow to the U.S. navy, like most games. The Japanese will have a difficult journey ahead of them in the beginning of the game but after they hopefully succeed in the invasion of Russia, they then have a pretty easy job. After the Germans and the Japanese have successfully completed their job as taking Russia and their other minor objectives. The Japanese player’s only job will then be to harass, annoy, and distract the American player in the Pacific so as to take American pressure off of Germany. While the Japanese do this, the Germans shall be amassing a invading fleet for the inevitable amphibious attack against Britain. But when the Germans are doing this, they can also put some IPCs towards getting Heavy and Long-Range bombers. Once and if they get these two industrial technologies, you can then proceed to do the almost unbelievable. You can strategic bomb the Western U.S. from Western Europe. By doing this, you will, of course, take money away from America and you will also take pressure off the Japan. The American player will be, hopefully, scared by this act and will put more effort into defeating Germany since they wouldn’t want to be strategically bombed again. And once the Japanese threaten the Americans with their navies in the Pacific and the Germans attack the industry of western U.S., the U.S. will be undecided in which Axis member to attack. And during this, the Germans should then proceed to invade England and keep on attacking until it capitulates. Once again, this strategy does depend alot on luck but it would be a very cool and interesting strategy if successful. I just love the idea of strategic bombing the US as Germany.

RE: Setting up Italy for A&A:Europe
Nah. Egypt’s cool dude. If the Allies want, they could always just put units in Egypt with those 12 IPCs that they get in the beginning.

RE: Setting up Italy for A&A:Europe
I was playing with my friends, and I was Italy. And we, being me and my other friend who was Germany, crushed the Allies. Italy, altough doesn’t have many IPCs, easily gains them. The Italians can hold on long enough against the Allies in North Africa and the Middle East to let Germany take Russia on. And Italy also helps to beat Russia too. So I decided that Italy was too strong since it should actually be somewhat weak. The whole point of Italy is to just make it alittle more difficult for the Allies in the South and make the game more interesting with the Allies having two objectives by capturing both Axis capitals instead of just Germany. So I changed some of the rules and unit placements for Italy:
ITALY
15 IPCs
Morroco - 1 infantry
Algeria - 1 infantry
Tunisia - 2 infantry, 1 artillery, 1 tank
Sicily - 1 infantry
Southern Italy - 3 infantry
Northern Italy - 4 infantry, 2 artillery, 2 tanks, 1 fighter plane
Greece - 2 infantry
Crete - 1 infantry
Yugoslavia - 2 infantry
Tyrhennian Sea - 2 destroyers, 1 transport
Adriatic Sea - 1 submarine
Sicilian sea - 1 submarine
Germany now gets 35 IPCs. Germany becomes 13 IPCs instead of 6, and Northern Italy becomes 8 IPCs instead of 4.
Order of Play:
1-Germany
2-Soviet Union
3-Italy
4-Great Britain
5-United StatesI took the the tank and infantry from Libya and placed them back to Tunisia. The units being in Libya would be too close to the UK units in Egypt. And I took the battleship away and replaced it with a destroyer because that makes the Italian navy too damn good. And I decreased Italy’s IPCs to 15 since 20 was too much for Italy since it should be quite weak. I mean, it might seem 20 isnt much, but when you play, 20 can be alot. and I made Germany 35 IPCs since they mainly now only have to deal with the USSR so they shouldnt really have their full IPCs since Russia wouldnt be able to take on Germany. The End.

RE: The Amerika Bomber
Oh, I know that. It would just be awesome to see that.

The Amerika Bomber
See, I’ve just thought about how cool this would be if I was able to do it. To bomb America. That would be quite awesome to do. And I’m not talking about the Japs since they would need to take over islands to bomb the US. Im talking about Germany. All Germany would need is Long-Range bombers. I mean its not easy to get them but its not way too difficult. This would be my plan for bombing the US with Germany. After having a stable front with counter-attack after counter-attack between Germany and Russian on the Eastern front, I would attempt to get Long Range bombers. During this time, Britain and US will be occupied in Africa or the Meditteranean and the Pacific or attempting to build an invasion fleet for Europe. The Russians will be fighting on both fronts. And then, once you hopefully get Long-Range bombers, you purchase a bomber (or you could just have a bomber before you get the upgrade). With that Long-Range bomber, you first strategically bomb Russia and land in Western Europe. This will, of course, make Russian lose money but also throw the Allies off track of your original plan. They will think that you are just bombing Russia and landing your bomber in West. Europe for safety purposes so your bomber can’t be attacked. But after you land you bomber in West. Europe, next turn you will do the unbelievable. You will strategically bomb the US. The US player should be stunned since I imagine not many US players have been bombed by Germany. This will show that the US is not invincible and the US player will probably get quite nervous and start to worry about defeating Germany quickly before he gets bombed again. It would be quite interesting to do this.

RE: Setting up Italy for A&A:Europe
ITALY
20 IPCs
Morroco - 1 infantry
Algeria - 1 infantry
Tunisia - 1 infantry, 1 artillery
Libya - 2 infantry, 1 tank
Sicily - 2 infantry
Southern Italy - 3 infantry
Northern Italy - 4 infantry, 2 artillery, 2 tanks, 1 fighter plane
Greece - 2 infantry
Crete - 1 infantry
Yugoslavia - 2 infantry
Tyrhennian Sea - 1 battleship, 2 destroyers, 1 transport
Adriatic Sea - 1 submarine
Sicilian sea - 1 submarine
–-------Germany becomes 18 IPCs instead of 6, Northern Italy becomes 8 IPCs instead of 4,
Southern Italy is worth 4 IPCs instead of 2, Greece becomes 3 instead of 2, and Sicily becomes 1 IPC instead of 0. Germany still receives 40 IPCs per turn. It is up to Germany to divvy up the oil money. And now the Axis partners get 15 IPCs in the beginning of the game instead of 12 and they can divide those 15 IPCs amongst themselves.
Order of Play:
1-Germany
2-Soviet Union
3-Italy
4-Great Britain
5-United Statesthats my new way of setting it up. its alittle different. Now the Germans get the same amount and Italy gets alittle more but is still the weakest nation. Now Italy is somewhat of a formidable opponent to the Allies with their decent amount of land units, their good navy and their okay IPC income.

RE: Setting up Italy for A&A:Europe
Whatever you feel the best purpose of Italy is, its your choice.

RE: Setting up Italy for A&A:Europe
My friends and I usually play with two people as Germany since both can think at once and decide what to do instead of person thinking about everything. But with Italy added, that creates less worries for Germany. The main objective of Italy would be to hold North Africa, the Mediterranean Sea and Southern Europe against the Allies while Germany thinks about the inevitable Allied invasions in Western Europe and of attacking the USSR. And with only 5 dollars taken away from Germany, its not that big of a loss. Since Germany losses 5, but gains 15 through Italy. And Italy could help also with attacking the USSR if they either go straight into the USSR from the front or go through the Middle East and into the backdoor. So, honestly, I think it would be very interesting to play with Italy and alittle more difficult for Allies.

RE: Setting up Italy for A&A:Europe
I used Japanese peices from A&A: P since they have actual artillery. But you can use the Jap peices from normal A&A and use the old AA guns. And I also used some of WARAXIS’s advice. So a thanks to him.

RE: Favorite nations
I like being the US since I love being able to fight in the European and Pacific theater at the same time so yuo have to worry and think about alot.
