One of our house rules is that ANZAC can upgrade the industrial facilities to a 10. We all agreed that is was B.S. that ANZAC could not produce more units to help combat the Japs. In our latest game I drew the U.S. and ANZAC and built a minor in Iraq. Was able to old off the Italians in the Middle East, free Cairo, bail out Stalingrand, and fight into the Balkans. I sent a majority of units from Australia to India to Persia since my U.S. forces destroyed Japan in 5 rounds. So luck played a role in it.

RE: Germany or Japan first?
In our group, for some reason they always let me be ANZAC and the USA. I focus on Japan and usually eliminate them in 5-6 rounds with superior sea power, and a lot of lucky dice rolls. I have changed my buy strategy as well. Only needed ships, bombers, transports, and tanks. I don’t use a lot of infantry, but like to put them on conquered enemy territory. After Japan falls they war focuses on my forces in North Africa. There I build a huge army of tanks and bombers. Flying any bombers from the Pacific to the European theatre. I also send ANZAC to the Middle East and then Egypt. Takes a lot of rounds, but helps the war against Italy and Germany. For whatever reason my group cannot stop me

RE: France totally useless
My group has played global dozens of times, and every time except one France fell in the first round. The time Paris did not fall my friend who was playing as France had an incredible first role hitting on all dice. Also the Germans did not send enough troops to destroy France. After a few rounds of combat all German forces were destroyed with a French Infantry and Fighter Plane all that remained. By the time it was Italy’s turn for whatever reason they did not attack. The British had sent fighters to help defend, and then the French bought a bunch of Infantry to defend with. The next German turn however France fell.

Victory Conditions w/ Russian Revolution
Our group has played the World War I version three times with the allies winning all three. Now finally the CP look to have won. The RR was implemented and Paris fell. Is it over or does the CP need to conquer London or Rome?

RE: Axis and Allies 1914 FAQ/Question and Answer Thread
I have played this game twice, and we have argued both times about if the Americans are allowed to move out of North America. So can you guys clear this up? Are US troops allowed to Ireland, Canada, or Britain or must they wait until war is declared to come Over There?

RE: Cold War Situation
My group did a Cold War scenario. Our game ended just like the real war did. With the Soviet Union taking Berlin, and the UK and US taking Western Germany, France, and the Italy. The US and ANZAC had Japan occupied, and also had troops in Korea. So the Allies of UK, US, France, and ANZAC began a 2 front war on the Soviet Union. After another 6-7 rounds Moscow finally fell. The only thing we did not do was give the sides advanced tech. It was fun, and we made Winston Churchill and George Patton proud by taking out the dirty commies.

RE: Recruitment
Can you mobilize in a capture capital? Right now in our game the Americans have captured Berlin, but there is large German-Austrian presence in Silesia. I would like an easy way to reinforce Berlin with Ally soldiers.

RE: First few builds for USA
Very interesting in how other players approach this. When I am the USA or allies. I always split my buyings in half, and focus US attention in both theaters. Now there are times when the Pacific may require a battleship that the European theater does not, but usually if one gets a transport the other does as well. This works very well for me, and when I am the USA our group knows I usually win the war for the allies. Each their own I guess.

RE: Question about transports
No once they load and unload that is consider a move for your units.

RE: Anyone been defeated in trying to take France?
After staring this topic I has a bad roll later that evening. I emptied Western Germany into France minus the planes. I also sent 2 tanks from Holland. I decided to test the theory of eliminating a lot of the Royal Navy on G1 with the Luftwaffe. I also decided to send the remaining troops in Holland to Normandy. This was one without any losses. Back to the battle of France. I won, but was left with one tank to hold. I think I jinxed myself knowing we were playing that night after starting the topic, knowing it was my turn to be the Axis. :-D

Anyone been defeated in trying to take France?
I was wondering if anyone has been defeated in attempting to take France with G1’s attack? I have suffered losses, but nothing ever where it looked like I was going to fail.

RE: A victory for the allies
@Field:
Now with an Industrial zone of 10 the USA would put 5 fighters and 5 tanks in each buy thus obliterating Germany.
Whenever you capture a Major Industrial Complex, it turns into a Minor Complex. Additionally, only the original power can restore it back to a Major Industrial Complex.
Just so you know, that shouldn’t have been possible - unless you were playing with house rules that say otherwise.
Our house rules state if you lose a Major Industrial Complex you pay the consequences.

A victory for the allies
My friend and I decided to play the Europe Theatre only. He picked to be the Axis, and I the Allies.
1st Round
He took German units and conquered all of the France.
Moved units toward the Russian front, but did not attack
As Italy moved Albanian soldiers into Bulgaria to help support upcoming Russian base.
Neither Navy in the Med attacked each other.I decided to build a defensive front around the British Isle as it appeared he was preparing for a Sea Lion Invasion.
I also decided not to attack the Italian Navy, and try to bolster my navy in Med. Hoping he wouldn’t attack either, and I could survive until the Americans arrived. With the Americans I built a battleship and two transports.2nd Round
More fake German preparations for a Sea Lion Invasion. More bolstering of German units along the Russian Frontier, but once again no attack. Italy attempted to take Alexandria, but was destroyed by the British.
British continued to bolster their presence in Africa and on the Island. USA builds infantry and tanks.3rd Round
Finally the Germans attack, but due to two rounds of inactivity the Soviets were well prepared. It gave me the chance to build “slow down” areas for attacking Germans. Lennigrad, Ukraine, and Stalingrad were filled with 3 Infantry units for 2 rounds, and Moscow received the rest.
After this I forget details of each round, but my fighting retreat in the Soviet Union was really hampering my friend’s attack. He eventually broke through, and began placing all new units in Lennigrad, South France, Normandy, Paris, and Ukraine. Neglecting to protect Germany. He only had 2 infantry units and a tank protecting the Fatherland. By this time there was a very large contingent of British transports, infantry, and tanks preparing for a Normandy invasion. After seeing an opening I decided to go for an invasion of Germany. I sent my navy to destroy the cruiser that was protecting the German coast, I then sent British troops to invade Germany. Germany fell, and Great Britain obtained her IPC’s. On the German next turn they sent all available to free Berlin. They were successful, but lost a lot of units. The USA then saw an opening using the naval base at Gibaltor, and were able to send a large amount of infantry and tanks to Western Germany. Now the USA rolled through the one infantry of defense, and was able to withstand any attacks from France and Holland. Now with an Industrial zone of 10 the USA would put 5 fighters and 5 tanks in each buy thus obliterating Germany. UK invaded Normandy, and freed France. At this all focus was then turned to Italy which stacks of infantry were destroyed very easily by the USA’s massive tanks and bomber squadrons.
My friend was totally dumbfounded by my attacks right into the heart of the Third Reich. I usually do the Overlord Invasion, and clean up the Italian front first. This was also the first time he didn’t roll through the Soviet Union with ease. I am interested to see what his strategy will be the next time.
