IMO, UK building an IC in Norway is a better place than E.C.

RE: Rommel, 12th SS and Normandy
The beacheads themselves were garrisioned by many non-german units, such as Ukranians, and other nationalities, even Kossacks made a counter-attack on horseback!
My point is that the best troops that germany had, were not anywhere near the beaches, but what if they had been? Another Panzer Division of crack veterans could certainly made a big difference. they could have cleared one or two beachead breakouts per day. In 10 days, the allies could well have been pulling back off the beaches in a momumental defeat, especially if the luftwaffe had thrown all their reserves into it. The germans losses would have been decimating to say the least, but I believe that they could have done it.
Confusion, due to communication disruptions by the allies and the french underground played a big role in giving the allies precious time to get ashore and inland to where vital artillery could get safe emplacements. The artillery was crucial in supporting the infantry from the german counter-attacks, especialy when the bad storms struck shortly after the landings, grounding all air support for the allies.
So, if the panzers had been there to push the invaders back to the beaches, where the casualties could have been unbearable, I believe that the allies would have had no choice but to pull what troops they could off the beaches, one at a time, as the panzers showed up. such a defeat for the allies would have been catastrafic, and would most likely led to a peace accord between the combatants. Ending WWII in Europe, with the Axis holding all of europe uncontested. I believe that old Joseph Stalin would probibly eaten a bullet instead of Hitler, to avoid capture, because Russia would have been on its’ own, no peace could have been brokered between those two.
Japan too would have been on its’ own, and the USA and Great Briton would have beaten them eventually. -

Oh no Jennifer, you didn’t write, testicles!
Now first off, only those with testicles may refer to testicles, in any joking matter, because those with testicles are sensitve on just how testicles can be joked about, and to imagine them hanging from your Grandmas’, er, uh, private area, is not viewed as paticularly humorous, by most of us anyway, (especially me for sure).
So, in future, stick to joking about what you got not what ya ain’t got, please.
Now I have to go wash out my brain from what I read on her post.
:-P Gezz Jen, yukky, yuk, gaaaa…… -

Greenland: I have never landed there, ( too damned kolt!). :-o

SZ 26: don’t even know where the hell it is? :|
And if DF puts himself on this list, I will vote for him as well. Just because it would be funny :-P -
On line real time Strategy game, travian
:|
I almost hate to bring this up, but I’ve been playing an “on line” server game for a few months now called, “Travian”. And am curious to know who else here is or has been playing this real time Strategy game. :? -
RE: Which unit is the strongest?
I’m in the 29th Infantry Brigade Combat Team, we have no tanks…
So, go over to a tanker unit and borrow one!

RE: IC's ???
Well, if it is a free at start IC, I think that Germany could benifit from one the most.
Imagine, an IC in Belorussia! 3 Infantry, or artillery, and later tanks pouring into the Russian front every turn.
Or in Western Europe, subs built directly in the Atlantic!
Maybe, in the Balkins, to speed up infantry to the attacks into the Caucuses.
Or, even the Ukraine, where the fighting would be non-stop!
Because, this game hinges on the survival or demise of Russia, all other theatres are side shows, nothing more.
Focus on taking out/keeping Russia alive, that is the core of the game. -
RE: Gleemax will be discontinued

I never did like Randy, and now I remember why.
Bad decisions are his trademark. -

Awww, I was hoping you would use your Abrams! :-P -
RE: Most Important Piece
:-D
Well, everyone has a special unit that they like and use to it’s maximum potential. And when they lose it, they are sad, very sad.
But, according to this thread, the Russian fighter(s) seem to be regarded more important over all the other availiable options. :-D
I know this for sure, once you lose that fighter, you are probibly going to lose Russia, that is how much a game barometer it is. And Russia lost is most often, game lost.
So, Russian Fighters Rule!
I built a russian fighter on R1 recently, and sank the Med fleet on R2 with 3 Russian fighters! Africa was saved by Russian planes  Now where can one fighter make that kind of a difference?
See ya around the gameing boards, and stay away from my fighters! -
RE: Which unit is the strongest?
:-o
Seeing as how this is totally a humorous subject, ( anyone thinking that this was supposed to be a serious subject needs to leave this thread right now).My vote went to dezertfish, because he could very easily destroy any of the other playing pieces with little or some effort, or a lot of effort, and a hammer, probibly, I think, well maybe he could get some friends to help him, if he has any, could be, some newbe that he hasn’t scared off yet, or a raw recruit that thinks he is a demigod of war or something. Anyway, he probibly has a truck, and he could certainly place the offending pieces on the ground and run over them a few times, and that would count too I suppose, because they would be destroyed and all dezerfish would be out is about $6.50 in pieces and gas!
But we won’t know for sure until he posts some pictures of the destroyed pieces, and how he overpowered them
So, I for one, will be waiting with baited breath to see the pics that he will soon be posting!
Go get em DF!
              :-P         -
RE: Tanks
OK, I knew I should have left in the sentence, Just for Jennifer, That, “THERE ARE NO OTHER UNITS INVOLVED IN THIS BATTLE”.
Also, I gave you the units to be involved on both sides, no variances are allowed.
for my example.
You of course may propose your own example of what you think is the optimum purchase strategy. And what the hell is an’“unzark tank?” IMHO, Jen, you really need to lay off the sauce when your posting.

RE: Most Important Piece
:|
It is possible I suppose, that one Russian fighter, supporting territorial exchanges and the defense of Russia, could account for the demise of up to 16 or more enemy units! -
RE: Tanks
Ok, here is a scenario for you;
We both have 60 IPC worth of units in a battle, I have 9 artillery and 8 infantry, you have 12 tanks!
Who will win?
And it does not matter who is attacking as the Artillery + infantry are all 2’s either defending or attacking.
The purpose of this is to show which purchase is more economical in the long run.
There will be 3 rounds of combat. -
RE: Tanks
Tanks are the coolest looking unit in AA!
But, it just is not cost effective.
sure, for the $ they can do sightly more damage than and equal IPC investment in a balanced infantry/artillery purchase, but there are fewer tanks to take hits than there are of Inf. and Artillery. -
RE: A&A Enlarged Map
:-)
I’m currently working on a large, (3’ by 4 1/2’) Rand Mc Nalley actual world map.
Europe is small compared to AA maps but I plan to use Army Boxes for most of the small Islands and territories anyway, putting a flag with the army # in the territory. If players agree, the territory boxes can be covered with an actual box to conceal the troops that are in that army, until it is attacked! That should get some palms sweating again.
Actually, this game will be more on the lines of a Big World game, pretty much a one-of-a-kind game using AA and other figures, and the rules for AAR as well as some home rules.
Until I get the map finalised I won’t post any pics.
As far as other big maps, I’ll wait to see the new game before I decide on buying anything.
